Prescription drug without the Rx?

Is it just me or do others have trouble falling asleep in Las Vegas?

Also, is it legal to order Ambien/Lunesta without a prescription from those online pharmacies (ie., Canada or Europe) and have it shipped to my residence in California. I asked my doctor today for a prescription for a sleep aid primarily to be used when I go to Las Vegas where I have difficulty sleeping due to all the excitement but my doctor told me that sleep aids are habit forming so no prescription was given. I did some internet surfing and there are plenty online websites selling Ambien or Lunesta claiming that no prescription is needed but will the DEA, Postal Inspector, or other law enforcement agencies be ready to arrest my arse when I take delivery of these medications? By the way, I've tried over-the-counter sleep aids such as Unisom or Melatonin but those supplements don't seem to work for me in Las Vegas. I need something potent.
Importation of a controlled substance (Ambien, Lunesta) from outside of the US by an individual consumer is illegal(up to 5 yrs in prison & big $ fine). Next problem you face when the drug is delivered to your door: now you are in possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription(1 year in jail and $ fine). However, these laws are infrequently enforced by the Feds because of manpower restrictions, etc. If you are driving to Vegas and get pulled over by the law and for some reason they search and find the pills, you will have a problem. Same if you have your baggage searched at the airport.

Another big concern is that a lot of these medications are counterfeit, adultrated, sub-potent or may not even contain the drug that they label it as being. What are you going to do then? File a complaint with the cops?

Will you be drinking alcohol while you are in Vegas?....central nervous system depressants (sleeping pills) and alcohol make for a potentially dangerous cocktail. Have another serious discussion with your physician about this matter before deciding on the on-line prescription route. I'm not judging your decision, just pointing out some of the potential risks. You're an adult....you make the call.

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times.......
I have insomnia, can never get more then 4-5 hours of sleep. Get a prescription for Xanax, a low dose knocks me out for at least 8 hours. You do not want to be buying prescription narcotics off of the internet.
No you can't legally get it with out a prescription. Ambien works the best as there is no hangover type effect when you get up in the morning. That is the main problem with the nonprescription sleep aids. I feel sleepy for 2-3 hours after I get up when I take one of those. A 30 day supply of the generic equivalent to Ambien is around $20 (not-copay) at my local Wal-Mart pharmacy. I agree it is habit forming, but being able to go to sleep when you want or need to is a real benefit. I'd never get more than four hours of sleep without them.

I would find a different doctor.

The problem with that is you tend to count on using said drugs to help put you to sleep at night. After a while, it gets out of hand and then you can't get to sleep with out it.

I've been there and my pill was alcohol, if my stomach didn't give out and put me into the hospital, I'd likely still be on it. Do yourself a favor and ONLY get meds by prescription so a doctor can monitor you and help if you start to become addicted.
One Word: "Mexico".

I thought you weren't supposed to sleep in Vegas?

Stay up late and then sleep in. That's my solution. That plus copious quantities of alcohol.

I am trained to sleep under any conditions for as long as I like.
Listen to your Dr. Say no to drugs.

I'm starting to fall into that trap. At least I'm seeing it early and working to avoid it. I rarely have a problem falling asleep, but rather I wake up four hours later and sometimes have trouble getting back to sleep.
