Prescription drug without the Rx?

I never take my pills to Las Vegas in the pill bottles. I put them in a weekly pill container and have never been questioned about them and I do take sleeping pills. Do the rest of you take all your bottles with you? Seems like it would take up more space than needed.

I'm starting to fall into that trap. At least I'm seeing it early and working to avoid it. I rarely have a problem falling asleep, but rather I wake up four hours later and sometimes have trouble getting back to sleep.

I found that as I get older I tend to sleep less. In my 20's I could sleep for hours on end, now I'm lucky if I get in a good 6 hours. Usually, it's about 4 hours of sleep per night.

Don't drink coffee or alcohol before bedtime and no food within 2 hours of bed time. If you keep waking up, try adjusting your bedtime so you will wake up on time. Also a nice workout during the day or sex just before bed time may help.
I was reading some of the side effects and product reviews for Ambien and Lunesta. One of the side effects for Ambien is sleep walking. One woman wrote a product review saying that she unconsciously woke up in the middle of the night while taking Ambien and began video taping the rest of the family sleeping. The family later told the woman that she was laughing and hysterical but couldn't be woken up out of her trance-like state. For Lunesta a lot of people indicated having a metalic taste in their mouths after taking Lunesta. The post by BIGLAR73 was an eye-opener for me which I'll take heed. For me I can sleep for 7-8 hours without having trouble going back to sleep after a bathroom break but in Las Vegas I have trouble initially going to sleep.
For six months straight I would only sleep 3-4 hours a night. It didn't matter what time I went to bed or how tired I was. It always took me a minimum of 3 hours to get to sleep once I laid down. Trust me having to take a pill every day to go to sleep isn't that bad. I use to be consistently tired and wore down because of my lack of energy. Now I don't even have to set an alarm clock anymore I am out of bed every morning between 5-6 full of energy. I have even found now that I am regulated some nights I can skip the pill if I go to bed tired.

The problem with that is you tend to count on using said drugs to help put you to sleep at night. After a while, it gets out of hand and then you can't get to sleep with out it.

I've been there and my pill was alcohol, if my stomach didn't give out and put me into the hospital, I'd likely still be on it. Do yourself a favor and ONLY get meds by prescription so a doctor can monitor you and help if you start to become addicted.

If you take the Ambien and try to stay awake instead of going to bed that is where the problems crop up. If your just wanting a one time thing just go to a doctor tell them your nervous about flying. Most will give you some sort of tranq to take before you get on the plane. Just take it to go to sleep at night instead.

Have you ever tried relaxation techniques?

The consumption of alcohol just prior to sleeping may help one get to sleep, but due to the effect of alcohol on brain waves (alpha, beta) one will be unable to sleep for long and your sleep will not be restful. It is best to forgo alcohol just prior to sleeping if one wishes to really get any beneficial sleep.

I do something even worse. I take my pills out of the bottles and distribute them into daily miniature zip lock baggies like the drug dealers use for selling coke. I end up with a big baggie filled with little baggies, each filled with a rainbow of pills. They would take be for a dealer until they looked up the pills and found them all to be boring.
Tylenol or Advil PM will knock me out and I get a good night's sleep.
