Primate Science is Wonderful

The louder the howler monkey, the smaller its testicles.

"Primatologist Leslie Knapp, professor and chair of the university's Department of Anthropology, found that the smaller a howler monkey's testicles are, the deeper and louder his mating calls."

DonDiego is not surprised.

Gratuitous Primate Video
I suspect that the monkeys with smaller testicles are closer to being female, and that could explain the noise.

Interesting that she refers to the research paper she wrote about this as her "Calls-and-Balls Paper."

If that lady ever approaches me with her micrometer, she's gonna find out just how loud a howl can get.

I wonder if this was a Federally funded study. I only ask because I've seen some really ridiculous studies that had recelived half a mil or a couple mil. on things that have absolutely no relevance whatsoever.

Actually the study was funded by Europeans - the Cambridge Humanities Research Council and the European Research Council.
