Professional Grifter Dr. Ben Carson

One of the World's preeminent pediatric neurosurgeons is a now Grifter...Because...Because....He wrote in an inspirational book 20 years ago and included two sentences that were really about why he decided to go to Medical School instead of Military school. This is the kind of meaningless bullshit that speaks more about the character of the people who spread it than the man they try to smear. Are you calling Hillary a Grifter because she lied about taking fire in Bosnia...or being named after Sir Edmond Hillary? Of course you aren't. Those things don't define a person. They are defined by their body of work. This is why I hate the political parties. Shame on you and the political hacks that perpetuate this crap.

Speaking of fairy tales, The Republican co-frontrunner (according to most polls) has just been exposed as a flim-flam man. Now that the grift is up, I suspect Dr. Ben Carson will be making for the exit soon.

Malibber has often opined here that one of the most lucrative marketing gigs is giving the conservative sheep what they want. I have to hand it to Dr. Ben Carson he brilliantly fleeced the sheep.

oooooh, be very careful there mal. Perhaps you should look up the case of Dan Meyers vs. Scott Tempesta and the Sailing Anarchy website. Mr. Tempesta and his site had their pants sued off because of a statement on a forum almost identical to yours.

Ooooooh, very, very doubtful! See NYTimes vs. Sullivan 1964.

NYT vs. Sullivan is not the same. The subject matter to attend is malice and slander. In Meyers vs. Tempesta the offense is almost identical to malibber's.

Plaintiff (Dan Meyers) filed suit just before the statute of limitations ran, alleging defamation after Plaintiff, a public figure, was referred to as a "grifter" in a forum post in August 2009 (by Scott tempest, owner of the web site and forum "Sailing Anarchy"). Plaintiff is a very wealthy individual who took similar action to shut down another sailing-related blog when he was unhappy with its content. Defendant beleives that the lawsuit has no merit, but that Plaintiff will use his superior resources to bankrupt defendants with litigation costs before they can previal at trial.

Meyers won.
malibber better get in line...

Ben Carson was offered an appointment to West Point. Had he accepted, he would automatically have been granted a full scholarship. If Mally and other Libs wish to be disingenuous and twist this into something than it's not, so be it. Twisting the truth and outright lies is what they do.

Once again, you are NOT offered scholarships to attend service academies. You are appointed and you attend. Your education is free. You are paid a small salary, of which your uniforms are deducted from them.

West Point NEVER offered Carson an appointment. That fact is not in dispute. What happened was that General William Westmoreland probably urged him to apply, but Carson chose not to. Then Carson claimed in his autobiography that he was offered a "scholarship" to West Point.

So he lied.

Actually I don't think that made him a grifter. It made him someone who made up shit for his autobiography - which is not that big a deal - except it's particularly hard to take from someone who claims to be holier than thou.

On the other hand, he IS a grifter for being a spokesmodel for the criminal Mannatech quack cure. Here is the Informercial for Mannatech. Oh, and then he out and out lied when he claimed no involvement.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out, "His declarations that 'I didn’t have an involvement with them' and 'absurd to say that I had any kind of relationship with them' are just bald-faced lies. Mannatech wanted to improve its image and happily paid Carson, one of the country’s greatest neurosurgeons, the man Cuba Gooding Jr. played in the HBO movie – to appear at their events and to appear in the company videos. They put his face all over their web site (sometime between my story and now, those images were taken down). Carson’s lack of due diligence before working with the company is forgivable. His blatant lying about it now is much harder to forgive."

Yes, which brings us to the question why did Ben Carson lie and say he did up until yesterday?
Wall Street Journal: "No photo identifying Mr. Carson as a student ever ran, according to the Yale Daily News archives, and no stories from that era mention a class called Perceptions 301. Yale Librarian Claryn Spies said Friday there was no psychology course by that name or class number during any of Mr. Carson’s years at Yale."

More lies in Ben Carson's book:

I'll tell you what. When you truly start caring about the lies Hillary and Bill has told, then I will worry about Mr. Carson's statement. I suspect that he did not know the proper terminology when talking about the service academies. I was recruited for Football at the Air Force Academy. I had the grades and was in the top percentile on my math SATs.
