Professional Grifter Dr. Ben Carson

Actually I don't think that made him a grifter. It made him someone who made up shit for his autobiography - which is not that big a deal - except it's particularly hard to take from someone who claims to be holier than thou.

On the other hand, he IS a grifter for being a spokesmodel for the criminal Mannatech quack cure. Here is the Informercial for Mannatech. Oh, and then he out and out lied when he claimed no involvement.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out, "His declarations that 'I didn’t have an involvement with them' and 'absurd to say that I had any kind of relationship with them' are just bald-faced lies. Mannatech wanted to improve its image and happily paid Carson, one of the country’s greatest neurosurgeons, the man Cuba Gooding Jr. played in the HBO movie – to appear at their events and to appear in the company videos. They put his face all over their web site (sometime between my story and now, those images were taken down). Carson’s lack of due diligence before working with the company is forgivable. His blatant lying about it now is much harder to forgive."

I’d go a bit further. Prior to running for President, a big part of Carson’s income was giving motivational speeches and writing motivational uplifting books. Apparently, Dr. Carson didn’t feel his young adult life where he got up at 5:00 AM to study, dressed in a suit and tie to attend class and donned a pocket protector was inspiring enough, so he made up a bunch of shit about wanting to hit is mom in the head with a hammer, stabbing a male relative, saving white people from black rioters, getting a scholarship to West Point, having a gun stuck in his back by a young black man at a fast food restaurant, and so on. Being a lifelong studious geek doesn’t sell books, so he reshaped his story into one that would appeal to the modern white conservative and became the black man from the mean streets of Detroit, that gave up the thug life once he found god, and even saved white kids from a gang of rampaging negros.

In other words, he recast himself as a white male conservative’s wet dream. I think the motivation was money and more specifically, to participate in the wingnut welfare circuit.

It is a shame. I find a story of someone that grows up in a bad neighborhood and goes on to have a lot of success because of hard work and dedication to be inspiring all on its own without embellishment. Alas, such a story doesn’t sell books though.

The Thugification of Ben Carson
It's a peculiar circumstance when a person takes responsibility saying "I did this" and is soundly chastised because no one corroborates the story, but a person in denial of substantiated questionable undertakings is hailed as commendable. Bizarro world, maybe?

That's it, terminology!

When Carson said he WAS offered an appointment to West Point, he should have used the proper terminology and said he was NOT offered a position at West Point.

When Carson said he did NOT have an affiliation with Mannatech, he should have used the proper terminology and said that he DID have an affiliation with Mannatech.

When he claimed to be a hero in a Yale class called Perceptions 301, he should used the proper terminology and said there was NO SUCH CLASS at Yale.

When he said that NO signers of the Declaration of Independence had "no elected office experience," he should have used the proper terminology and said that MOST signers of the Declaration of Independence had elected office experience.

And when he said that the Pyramids were built by the biblical Joseph to store grain, he should have used the proper terminology and...just admitted he's batshit crazy.

Terminology! Thanks for clearing that up, Roulette Man.
The United States Military Academy at West Point (USMA) does employ the term "scholarship" on their promotional literature in reference to the Government-funded education provided at the institution.

"Each year about 1200 young men and women take advantage of the opportunity to attend West Point on a full government scholarship, which includes tuition, room and board, medical and dental care, and an annual salary."

Unbeleivable. A world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon may have misspoke about a scholarship (I haven't read all the details yet) and the left on here wants to crucify him. The Clintons leave a trail of corruption, graft and lies (and worse?) for the past 30-40 years and they're beyond reproach. Simply incredible.

Really? Maybe a GOP House committee should have Hillary come in and testify about that. You know, like she did on Benghazi.

Wouldn't that be great?

Geesh. What's next? Are some of y'all going to demand to see his birth certificate next?
C'mon - its not like Ben Carson is telling lies to the mothers of dead soldiers about alongside the casket of their child - is it?
My 24 year old boy acheived ACT and SAT tests scores within the top 1% percentile while in high school....................he's apparently much brighter than dad, but I digress. He graduated high school with a GPA over 4.0 with about 30 hours of college credits, depending on the school I'm certain. He received letters from hundreds of schools including West Point, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Duke, Brown, and Northwestern stating that they would love him to attend their school.

Was he offered an invitation to attend or not? Technically no, since if he was found to be a criminal the offer may have been rescinded. That being said, my son could have attended any of those schools. If I claim that my boy was offered entrance into the Notre Dame business school, was I lying? I think not. This is what Liberals are doing with Ben Carson, and they feel very comfortable doing so.

The same Liberals also feel very comfortable with Hillary lying.

West Point NEVER offered Carson an appointment. That fact is not in dispute. What happened was that General William Westmoreland probably urged him to apply, but Carson chose not to. Then Carson claimed in his autobiography that he was offered a "scholarship" to West Point.

So he lied.

Yes, those dirty liberals at the Wall Street Journal. Don't forget Jeb promised to "Fix It." I suggest to you this is part of his fix. Liberals are amused by Conservative on Conservative violence.
