QOD: The Rio

Today's question made me mad. I remember when the Rio first opened. What a great hotel! I loved staying there. All the dealers were so friendly. The beautiful cocktail waitresses. I was introduced to the property by their rep in Hawaii. He set us up with a full comp. Had a supersuite on the top floor. We loved all the restaurants. Fiore's food and service were outstanding. You couldn't beat Buzio's for the freshest seafood. We used to take home the artisian breads from the bakery. Tony Marnell Jr. could be seen smoking cigars on the patio at Fiore.

Then the the EVIL EMPIRE bought out the Rio and it was never the same. A Harrah's rep called me to stay at the Palazzo Suites. These were incredible villas, unfortunately the rest of the property was in steady decline and this was 10 years ago! Its a shame that Caesars won't spend a dime to upkeep the properties. I wish the ghost of Jay Sarno would come back and scare the hell out of management.
No one can argue w/ you but the human Gary Loveman would make any ghost tremble.
Let Sarno RIP
Of course the same could be said back in the day-- You don't see gentlemen boxers greeting you at the door, nor see Dino dealing cards to pretty girls and paying them for having 22 anymore either.
It's the "bigger fool" theory of management. They'll spend money on stuff if they think someone else will spend more than they do. No one is willing to pay them to paint the Rio, so they'll never paint it.

I actually like staying there, because the original ideas are still apparent. You can tell it was once a great new place. We can just call it the Ghost of the Rio.
