question about qod todays topic Oct 13 Fremont Street

the circles seem to have made little or no difference. the most annoying is the ones that play a blasting stereo / amplifier. and the buckets, OMG, every few steps there is a group pounding on buckets with their drumsticks. one of those would be more than enough but there are several "performing" at the same time on Fremont street.

Is that the guy in front of Binion's that hits the three hour long high note on the sax??
OMG, I hate that more than all the unbathed buskers combined. That long, high note sears my ears more than old, wrinkly diaper man sears my eyeballs.

Anyway, if we are talking about the same guy, he is contracted by FSE as a regular performer. No lottery or green circle for him.

There is another sax player I have seen a time or two in a green circle. His music is a little more reasonable on the decibel level and pitch. I've dropped him a few bucks.

Now on a little less enjoyable level, I will say that I will drop a tip on a busker if I like their "performance". It is a dangerous move though. As someone who spends a considerable amount of time with the homeless and drug addicted I have to say that you sometimes cannot tell who is an addict and who is not. Every dollar given freely to an addict hurts them more than you can imagine.

I would say no because he has his logo on the canopy I am willing to bet Fremont pays him like the other stage performers

The long, loud notes annoy me too, but I enjoy him, 98% of the time, lol.

I would assume the sax guy has a kiosk permit same as the painters or clay people. You are correct, he has always been there for years. I also support the marionette guy and at the end can be a drum guy. I will support the arts. The bucket guys are presenting a talent. But don't disagree w you. I am often there midweek afternoon, so it has been the lame of the lame. I also have to say a few very bad incidents I have witnessed.

We once saw some very young, maybe 13 year old girls naked w thongs and pasties on. And a few months ago, the cat ladies naked w thongs and pasties on had a 3 year old with them and one was 8 months pregnant with her "outfit" on at noon on a Tuesday. The security did run them off and say they couldn't have the child there. But all I thought was if this is this child's day life someone needs to know what is happening in his night life. I walked up at the end and security was running them off, but I surely hope someone was calling cps, but they would just say it was not "abuse". Myself and the many tourist were absolutely shocked and concerned with the situation. But when the government will not do its job what do you do. I think of this child often. we are failing these children. The child say at the feet of these women on the floor of Fremont street. I just have no words for my feelings.

After the Elizabeth smart and many others, I also try to be more aware of women on corners. I once thought a panhandling women drugged out of her mind was being watched by a man from afar. I circled back around. I have called authorities to report stuff a few times, but often we have no way of helping. I guess my point is I would hope Fremont and the authorities are actually following up on this stuff.
I can't agree more with the person above. Giving money to addicts is the most destructive thing you can do for them.

FSE Security is not the government, shame on everyone for not calling metro or child services

I now avoid Freemont. Just too disgusting!!!!
I came up at the very end of the incident and they were already en route and leaving. Hired security are supposed to work with the law in providing information and Fremont also had lvpd on duty. And as I said when I come upon of a situation I most certainly contact security or law. I do not know how seriously any reports are taken, nor at times, the legality of such situations. But when 13 year olds are on Fremont they are aware. And yes, this was prior to the new "rules" so I do believe that some of this was why a change had to be made. I will never interject myself in a situation, but gather info and report it and might watch the situation. I Have doubled back in my car many times to watch a sketchy situation and report it immediately or after.

I miss the old Downtown. Stopped by the Cortez Saturday for a post fight party and the bar was overrun by Goths and hipsters. Even the trailer park was full of families. Freaking Zappos !.
