question about todays question of the day

So, todays question of the day says the average amount of money that you take to Las Vegas for your bankroll is about $132 a day and $578 per trip. I have seen these and similar numbers while reading about Las Vegas in the past and have never believed them. I always took more than $132 even back in the days were I couldn't afford to bring that much!
If my wife gave me $132 at breakfast in Las Vegas these days, by lunch time I would be sitting next to her with my best puppy face on, bottom lip rolled down, etc waiting for her to give me more money. Yes I am lucky Las Vegas is 3000 miles from where I live!!!
If I remember correctly my bank roll in 1990 on my 1st Las Vegas trip was $200 a day (5 day trip), its up to $300 a day and I have done $400 a day. It doesn't seem like a large increase between 1990 and now but I can make money last so much longer now (thanks LVA)
I guess my question is, is there anyone else that thinks $132 a day bank roll is small? excessively small? How long could you make $132 last?

I think our first trip back in '99 I cashed a check from a job on the way to Dulles, it was about 2300 if I remember right. That was gambling, pocket money, etc.. I've never been a "bankroll" kinda guy, I have a pocketful of cash (with some 'safed' away of course) and we gamble, eat and whatever from it. When the pocket starts getting light, I ease up on the spending, when it;s full, it's full steam ahead. I can't really see limiting myself to XXX amount per day, if I'm having fun(and losing) I'll keep going, if I'm up but not having much fun, I'll find something else to do.
If I can play $5 tables, then I could suffice with $132 per day. That is too small of a bankroll if you are trying to be serious in your gambling.
I am not a high roller for sure but it is difficult to put a handle on $132 per day gambling budget. It takes a lot of effort to get to Vegas and getting there ain't free. On more than one occasion, I have lost more than $132 playing video poker waiting on the cocktail waitress to bring my morning Bloody Mary. On our first trip to Vegas, stayed at the Imperial Palace. During our first 30 minutes of gambling, my wife won $7,000. Game on. It was a 5 day trip. We thought it was great to get out of town with $2,500. At $132 per day, you're a real tourist. A gambling tourist (new term for not-high-roller) is much more dedicated to time spent gambling. In 15 years, we have seen two shows. Shows take time away from gambling.

It depends what you play. If you are decent at it, $500 should see you through four to six hours a day for five days playing low limit blackjack or video poker. Most days that I head to a casino, I don't bring more than that.
I'd wager that gambling is not the priority for most visitors these days.
Based on reading how clubs, dining and shopping are becoming an ever increasing larger percentage of revenues at the resorts, this isn't a surprise to me. While most of us on this site are gamblers there are large amounts of people that gamble very little but drop tons of money on a five star meal or bottle service at a club. You also can factor in conventioneers that may take the survey bringing that average down as well. If the survey question was framed as "if your main purpose for your trip to Vegas was to gamble, how much is your bankroll?" the number would be much larger.
Agreed, but that just shows how gambling is not that big on visitors priority lists anymore.
Wow, Billy and I agree. Let us celebrate!! Have a nice day, Mr. Billryan.

I usually start with about $1,000.00 for a 5 day trip. if that is depleted, I will go to an atm, but that is rare.
I just couldn't go with $132a day because........
POKER-- If you sat down at a 1/2 no limit poker table with me with $132 I would bully you until I had your money or you left pissed off. Others did it to me but stopped or at least slowed way down when I put a decent buy in of $300 on the table.
Craps---I could grind with $132 and make it last 3 to 4 hours on a bad day but I usually play $22 inside numbers and a $5 passline bet or the iron cross bet and can lose $132 on a bad cold streak fairly quickly. I also found a $300 buy in could get me thru a cold streak
Black jack--I just flat suck at BJ and would loose all $132 in....well, what's $132 divided by $5?............. that many hands
Misc. Games---I never play let it ride, Pia-Gow, or any other card games
Roulette-----I can play with $132 for hours on a roulette table and I am usually good until I go for it and put it all on red or black and then I have a 90% loss streak going (this game hates me)
Video Poker---I could make $132 last for a while at this but I would miss the high 5"ing at the craps table and I would leave before I lost all $132
