Question regarding Las Vegas Motor Speedway

I have driven to this race and have shuttled as well. Here is what we have done the past 5 years or so and it has worked pretty well. We purchase the lucky 7 parking pass which is about 55 bucks and the big advantage is they don't lock you in after the race. The next thing to do was discussed by another poster is to get out of your seat with 25 laps to go. We actually start toward the parking lot, and listen to the last 25 laps on our headset. I have been back in my hotel in less than an hour the past 5 years.

I know it sounds lousy to not see the checkered flag, but I look at it like this. Are those 25 laps worth me sitting an extra 2 or 3 hours in traffic. Maybe one year I will regret it, but I haven't yet.

BTW one year we shuttled and the bus company had 7 buses to shuttle 14 bus loads of people. 3 of us made it on the first batch of buses unfortunately one of our party didn't and had to wait for the buses to return from the strip. They charge about 45 bucks for Sunday. We have 4 guys split a car for the weekend at about 120.00. Pretty easy math.

I have to agree w/ the option of leaving before the race is over..

I usually go to 2-3 races a season, and we get to each track a few hours before the green flag drops to take it all in.
Now this may be my age talking, but after about 6-7 hours in the sun, having some cold ones, and walking for what feels like 5,000 miles, I'm worn out. The last thing I want to do is sit for another 2 hours in traffic. We leave with about 15-20 laps left, catch the end on the radio and the highlights on Speed or ESPN.
You will beat the traffic and in your case, if you have a flight, it will ease some of the frantic tension of being rushed.

With all that, you will have a GREAT time!! The Neon Garage is really cool, unlike anything in the sport. You should also plan a trip to Atlanta for the Labor Day Race.. now thats just a weekend of pure NASCAR trouble..

Have fun!
Marko..

Just about settled on a shuttle out of the Tropicana.

Does this itinerary sound about right?

Arrive at Trop at 7:45
Catch shuttle and arrive at LVMS around 830
Neon garage from 9-11
Driver intro at 11
Race ends at 5. Head to shuttles
Back at Trop by 7. Head to mcarran.

Also, why is the Key bus $65 round trip while the shuttle companies are around $45?
Keep an I out for Aric Almirola driving Petty #43. He is a good friend of mines son. We spent Christmas eve together. He is a heck of a nice guy and none of this has gone to his head.
