"Little kid" friendly and other considerations

A comedian once said this about bringing kids to Vegas:

I DON'T bring my hookers to Disneyland, don't bring your kids to Vegas!!!

Bob

Well, I certainly don't consider myself better than anyone else. Thats why I came to this forum for advice. And as for that advice I actually agree with it. All we needed was a little reality check to convince us to not take our child. But then came a really good invite. We are assured by our friends that with the private entrance, no check -in and plenty of in "villa" entertainment our child will never know she is at a casino, much less Vegas. Though she will get off the plane, no other guest will ever know that we have brought a child.
If we were just comming for our "usuall" couple of days we now know it's just not feasible. But an invite to this game and these accomodations? Sorry, I'm not turning it down. Would You? Shoot, I cant lose, I have been promised that if I lose at the poker game my friend will pay for the fuel and flight hours (well, I guess I could still lose, The game buy in is about 5 times the flight cost.)

And as far as Disneyland goes, as a very frequent visitor I have to say I'm pretty sure there are some guys bringing hookers with them. At least they dress like hookers.
CowboyKell, it's your kid, your trip and you know what's best. Good luck with the game.
Good luck CK,sounds like you have it togother pretty well.

Btw concerning flying to vegas in your own plane,i've kind of always had a passing interest in owning a small plane and being able to fly places myself. What kind of plane do you have? How for can you travel in it? What is the cost of a flight from ca to lv(if you dont mind)? Thanks and have a safe trip.

JOHN

We have a half share in a Citation Mustang. It has a realistic range of just under 1000 miles and cruises at 340 mph. Its a little excessive cost wise, well, more than a little. We keep a joint logbook and pay into the plane's account $650 for every hour that we individually log, this includes fuel. I justified this expense of this to my wife in that she has to travel to her San Francisco office pretty often and that way I could have a toy, and write off the majority of the expenses to her firm. We also have an outragous tie down cost but it would be cheaper if we did not keep it at John Wayne Airport in Newport Beach.
So, for our most common trip to OAK in San Francisco we log an average of 2 hours because of routing, Thats about $1300 each way. Vegas is about half that.
Of course we are paying a premium to own a VLJ and to be able to travel at over 300 knots. Before the mustang we owned a Piper Tri-Pacer (a small sport plane) That had an operating cost of about $40 an hour plus fuel. Huge difference, but it only cruised at about 125 mph. There are lots of small sport planes that operate at just under $100 hour and are pretty quick. What gets most owners in trouble is that they don't put money back each hour for maint. cost. Nothing like getting that 500 hour maint. bill on two P&W jet engines.
Theres one little lesser known perk for flying yourself to Vegas. We are not "big" gamblers and are not rated very high. We like to walk around and play downtown or play the cheapest tables wherever we are staying. But, if we mention to a host that we are flying in ourselves we suddenly find a limo waiting on us and quite a few un asked for upgrades and perks. Then at the end of the trip when the host is disgusted with us all we have to pay is for our original reservation.
