R. I. P Easy free drinks.

This is Las Vegas, not AC, not Detroit, and not other casinos who charge for drinks. Drinks were charged for at one time in LV. Competing casinos kept on lowering the prices down to the point where Benny Binion charged nothing and other hotels joined in. This is why we should all embrace competition and not enjoy two companies owning 80% of the major hotels on the strip.

With getting ripped off for resort fees, hotel taxes, high costs of items in the gift stores, etc. I hardly give a crap that MGM isn't getting their fair share for a drink.

YES!!! This is the response that I was looking for.
WHY do you think that free drinks works?
Imbibed players play more. I am one of them and my drinks are comped.

Not in 'Vegas! I want my drinks for free and money for nothing. Yeah, right.
Binion's started it. It really works.
Thanks,Roulette man.
I don't drink high-end stuff,anyway. I'm blue collar/red neck Dave.

I was more than a little surprised when I was playing video poker in the lobby bar at the Mirage in April when the bartender charged me for my second beer. A few minutes later, the VP machine spit out a ticket good for a free drink. I don't know how much coin-in triggers a drink coupon.

It wouldn't bother me too much if what they charge for a single beer wasn't about the same amount I'd pay for a 6-pack at a liquor store.
It's us against them. All they want to do is take our money. All we want is to get as much enjoyment as possible for our money. All I want is free Bombay Sapphire Martins while I risk as little money humanly possible. Oh...and a Royal Flush. And free entertainment. And good cheap food. Is that too much to ask?

If they don't like me exploiting their matchplay and free play systems and abusing their generous free drink policies then they should start charging for parking and gig me for $20 drinks and come up with outrageously sneaky add on fees. And then I'll start parking where its free and walking; fill my own damn flask with perfect Martinis and sneak 4 people in the room to cover the resort fee. Oh wait a minute.
I will vote with my feet. Now that I am retired, I will stay and play at the places giving me the most bang for the buck. If I liked fancy hotels with high priced foo-foo cocktails and enjoyed a party pit atmosphere with 6/5 $15 minimum blackjack, I would stay on the strip. That is not my cup of tea, so El Cortez has my business because they give me more bang for my buck. My millennial son likes the glitz of the strip and the vibe of the clubs so he stays on the strip. However, I think demographics and economics will eventually catch up with the strip. To each his own and that is what makes Vegas great!

The bartender at Monte Carlo charged my wife for a ginger ale while we were playing VP. I assume our pictures are on the wall for non-payers.
The wife wanted to try out the casinos in Puerto Rico, so we went to Puerto Rico last month. Not only do they give out free drinks, but if you ask for a hotdog, burger, or sandwich, just ask the waiter and they will bring you one at no charge. At one of the other casinos, they set up a buffet during dinner and gave free food.
