Raiders again threaten Las Vegas move

I don't think that it'll happen, but if it does, expect higher taxes on hotel rooms and rental cars. That's where the great majority of the stadium costs will come from if this goes through.

The Las Vegas Raiders
They want to put the stadium on the strip. I dont even want to think about what that does to traffic. It also seems to open a door to making it easy for visiting players/coaches/staff to bet on games. I can see the ESPN tabloid scandals lining up already.

It would be nice for Vegas locals, though. They need more things to build up community and patriotism to the city.

They are building the stadium for UNLV with or without the Raiders aren't they?

That is correct. As a lifetime Raiders fan, I want the Las Vegas Raiders. The planned stadium is not directly on the strip, but it wouldn't be far from it. The Raiders would actually attract fans from several states. The hotels would buy up all of the luxury suites. I think it would be great.

I don't want this NFL to Vegas move to happen, and I don't think this Vegas move will happen, but if it does they should put the stadium next to Fremont Street. Property is far cheaper than the strip, and there's plenty of opportunities to add more hotel rooms. They would need to add a rail line to the stadium area.

I don't want downtown to change that much, but if they want to make this happens that's their best opportunity. It would crush my idea of the perfect downtown, not to mention that of Downtown Project's Tony Hsieh.

Boiler and I will just have to disagree.

The plan Addelson had involved property on Trop at Paradise. Years ago it held a driving range and proshop. Last I noticed it was vacant. I've never read anything about the strip or downtown as a location.

Good Luck!

As a new resident, I'd love to see it happen, but am doubtful it will. One of the hardest parts of moving is giving up my Giants tickets, even if I end up giving away more than I use these days.
If the stadium goes where I'm thinking, across from the airport by the Blue-Green Resort, traffic will be a nitemare game days.

A 42-acre site at East Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is shown Thursday, Jan. 29, 2016. Las Vegas Sands Corp. is leading a consortium of investors to partner with UNLV to build a $1 billion domed stadium that would be home to school‘s football team — and possibly a National Football League franchise.
By the way, the Raiders are the only remaining team that has to share a stadium with a baseball team. This means for part of the football season, a good part of the football field is dirt. The owner absolutely hates the dirt and so do many of the players. It even gets worse if the Oakland As go far into the playoffs. The Oakland Coliseum is hardly a state of the art stadium any more. The Oakland As signed a new lease a year or two ago, so they are not going away. Oakland is not going to be able to afford or provide a new stadium for the Raiders.

I believe they go to Las Vegas or maybe still come to Los Angeles if San Diego doesn't respond in their one year period they were given to respond.
