Recovering from ankle surgery

I had surgery 8:AM on the second it went well. Recovery hasn't been going so well. At 11:00 PM on the 2nd not being used to walking on crutches I slipped and fell when my bare foot slipped on the tile floor. I twisted my repaired ankle. I find out tommorw if I have to start the process all over. Basically I can't do anything and get a only few minutes of lucidity in between painkillers.
OH CRAP Mal! So sorry to hear, hope you don't have to start over. Gotta be careful my friend but I also know firsthand the dangers of painkillers and how easy it is to have an accident.
Sorry to hear this.

While I have no real knowledge of your age and/or dition, I will venture to say that us old dudes are much slower to heal. I am learning this the hard way. Having recently healed from a knee injury that took 3 times as long as I thought it should I can give advice (for what it's worth) from what I learned. Take it SUPER easy. Twice as easy as the doctor recommends. If doc says don't run, don't walk. If doc says keep weight off, keep it elevated. Etc. etc.
When it comes to physical therapy do everything the therapist says plus 10%, if possible.

Get better fast.
Get well soon!

A broken tib/fib fracture did NOT keep me away from Nevada in 1984.
Did Reno and Las Vegas in a wheelchair. Some by rental car, some by Boeings best. Get a free wheelchair in any large mall to get around in.

Crutches really suck! They don't work in snow/ice at all.

Went to a show in Reno and a really BIG security dude carried me and my chair to the FRONT ROW.
My buddies loved it,too.
Got pretty good at doing wheelies. It fits in my trunk.
The Red Cross has some to borrow for FREE.That's where I got mine to get around in Seattle.
Just crutch in and wheel out.

Yes,you will be in some pain.Re-break and start over IS possible.
You can play at the craps table in a wheelchair, not so much at BJ.
The casinos have wool/polyester carpets and it will cause a lot of static electricity build up from the tires so watch it.
A 1/4" spark is not unusual. Just touch a machine with a coin, every so often.
Sure, airports have free wheelchairs. Buy some leather finger-less gloves for better traction on the "pump-wheel".
NO BLOODY CRUTCHES for long term,at all. Get a skinny chair.Hang your goodies off of one of the rear handles. The crutches will wheel down the isles with you, stowed on one of the foot rests. Easy-peasy.
I have photos in Nevada in a 'chair. Great fun, ripped on Oxycodone and beers. WHEEEEE!
Hang in there, better days are coming!
Get better, Mally. I know that it's no fun, as I've had ten knee surgeries including two knee replacements on the same knee. What kind of repair did the doctors perform?
Get well soon.

Rick
Sorry bout your ankle and fall. Hope it get's better fast. It sucks being on crutches.
And don't post on here using your toes; helps the healing process if you don't.
according to my physical terrorist, make sure you have the right crutches as they tend to give you the wrong size and often they are not adjusted correctly.
