Renovated Sahara to Reopen?

The Clark County Commission voted unanimously in favor of a renovation plan for the landmark Sahara hotel and casino, which shutdown in May due to financial difficulties.

The plan includes a renovated casino area, additional restaurants and stores, more meeting rooms and convention space, a massive new nightclub, a new pool, and a 2,830 square foot beer garden, which would replace the existing roller coaster.

The plan was put forward by the property's owners, SBE Entertainment and Stockbridge Real Estate, who recently secured funding. No word on when work will begin.

This was mentioned as a possibility in the thread about the Sahara closing back in May.

So, in other words, some tables out on the sidewalk?
A new beer garden!?? COOL! ...oh wait a minute,in PLACE of the roller coaster? Oh man!,we loved that coaster.

On a more serious note. Really,a bunch of tables on the sidewalk on the strip where you can drink and people watch? I love this idea, its fantastic!,BUT,its the north end of the strip. Whats on the other side?,isn't that the stalled echelon?,with a view of the worlds biggest souvenir shop if you crane your neck? I beleive you'll have a good shot at some drug deals going on (we have)as well.
I know! I vote for no hands beer drinking on roller coasters!

An outdoor seating area. Originating in Germany there are usually German themed with liter mugs of beer served by grain fed waitresses.

I guess not all is doom and gloom in LV. Tired old properties are being renovated right and left. The Plaza. The Gold Spike. The Tropicana. The Riviera (not sure about this one, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was due for one). The new version of Lady Luck (new name to be determined) downtown). Did I miss anyone?

This makes me happy, because I love legacy LV properties.
Golden Gate is getting renovations, followed by Fitzgeralds which was just purchased by Golden Gate.
New name for Lady Luck is supposed to be the "Downtown Grand". Pretty lame name. Maybe if enough people complain, they'll come up with something better>
