Rental Cars

Whoa, the prices of rental cars in Las Vegas are really high!!

I've been checking for a month now and the prices don't seem to be coming down. I realize that it is supply and demand because of conventions, etc. but I've never found prices this high.

Does anyone know of any discount code for Alamo that I could use. Planning on a trip Jan 20-30.

Right now I can get a "convertible" for $302. The "economy" size is over $600. Is that crazy or what???

Thanks in advance!

It's weird how the convertibles are the cheapest cars.

You're still two months out - keep checking rates. Also, Dollar usually has a "city special" rate that fluctuates very often....

I reserved on www.dollar.com on Saturday 23 January through Wednesday 27 January on a "lock and go" (mid sized or larger) at a rate of $117.03 ($181.76 with all taxes / fees), This rate would have been the same for a full week. Also, some have suggested splitting the reservation into two parts - a one week rental followed by a three day rental. You may be able to save quite a bit that way but you will need to return the car and get a new one which would be a hassle. Another option my son used was getting your rental at Dollar on Swenson Street - about 1 mile from the airport. He was able to save ~$40 on fees that way, but you need a ride back and forth to the airport. It worked for him as I was able to rent my car at the airport and drive him back and forth.

I had good luck using the Costco car rental site over Labor Day. I checked for the days of your trip, and you can get a Mid Sized for $264, and a full size for $282 (includes taxes and fees) for Jan 20-30 from Budget. If you don't have a Costco membership, it's a good store and to join costs about $50.
Yep. + one on the Costco suggestion.
I look around a LOT B-4 I reserve one and Costco has the best prices the last 2 times.
The convertibles are cheap because it's wintertime.

Coupon codes are an absolute must. You can easily overpay $60 on a weekly rental without them.

I used these for my upcoming trip but I booked back in July so I don't know if they are still valid. I am a COSTCO member but I've never once been asked to prove it at any rental car location. And if you signup to bypass the counter there isn't even anyone who could ask you to prove it.

ALAMO
coupon: AD2338FDF
contract Costco: 7014627
Thanks for all the suggestions.

The last one suggested I use Costco since they don't question if I'm a member. I am a member of BJ's (Eastern warehouse club) but they don't offer Alamo.

Anyway, the price with Costco for the same convertible ($302) was $288. Quite a difference. However, if I wanted to book it I would have to give my membership number.

Thanks anyway!!
I've always found the lowest prices at carrentalsavers.com. Sometimes by a hundred bucks cheaper.
You may want to consider Advantage . They are in the main rental center , I found a compact for $234 and $221 for pay now for your dates . A full size was $281 , and $265 pay now . I used them on my last trip , no problems . Bob
