Report on Downtown Grand $1000 Loss Rebate

I don't know if this has been reported yet but a friend and I were just there this past weekend and Video Poker is no longer allowed for the free play.
I wasn't aware of the changing rules. At least I won't be surprised when I redeem my 2nd redemption but seems unfair that the casino can change the rules at any time. Management reserves all rights, I get that. However;

1) I didn't know that in order to claim the 2nd redemption that the player must be staying at the Grand but I'll be sure to stay the nights using the comps room.
2) I didn't know that video poker is no longer allowed for the free play. Oh well then I hope I get lucky on the slot machines.

Getting anything back in free slot play is still better than nothing at all.

It is a rather sneaky requirement by the Grand. Had I not saved the card with all the rules for the rebate, I would not have known this either. AND, it is buried near the bottom of the rules, in that tiny print, of course.
Well, it is a comped stay, but I'd have been peeved if I had shown up the players' card booth, expecting to get my 2nd redemption loaded on my card, only to be told I can't have it because I'm not a hotel guest.

I am going to be at the Grand in a couple weeks, still no mailer, so I may just book a room anyway, as they are inexpensive (even though I already have all of our nights booked elsewhere). I'll be keeping fingers crossed that video poker is still allowed for the rebate redemption.

Thanks for the information! I didn't know this was available. Will try this.
Checked this weekend and booth said no restriction against playing the rebate on VP. Did you try it and it was disallowed, or were you just told that?
Thanks guys, I did mine over the weekend and sat down and can't believe that within the hour had won 850 dollars. They had limited choices, but we played this and that at max bet, went up and down about 200, then played willy wonka and hit 500. I thought it was more, lol. But we only had 100 invested and so we cashed out and didn't play the promo.

lol, I didn't go ahead and do my husband's because I didn't want to be down a grand after hitting....I'll save his for another session.

Usually when someone has a promo, all I do is lose, so this was a nice surprise. Walked in south point because meeting people and lost 200 bucks in ten minutes...first and last in there for another five years. But DG might get me to drop a few bucks a time or two again.
Anthony is correct. I used my 2nd redemption of $163 on a variety of video poker, slots, and keno machines. I also used my 2 free comp nights Aug 23 thru Aug 25. No resort fee was added as well (which would have amounted to $18 a night extra per night). The only bummer was that I didn't win anything but I'm not complaining for this promotion is awesome. F.Y.I., the 2nd redemption is automatically ready when you are and it will be in your account automatically. Don't make the mistake that I did which was to go to the slot booth first to inquire about my 2nd redemption. The booth person called a supervisor to try to figure out what was going on in the computer in my account. After about 10 minutes of them not knowing what was going on with my information in the computer I suggested that I would just go to any machine and see if my 2nd redemption was already on my account and it was already there. It requires that you play $1 first then the green money icon on the LED screen lights up green indicating you have the money available. It worked just fine on video poker. I'm looking forward to my 3rd redemption beginning in October. BTW the remodeled rooms are nice. In the room the resort fee includes 2 bottled waters and 2 earplugs due to the noise from Fremont St. However my room didn't experience any noise. It also includes free Wi-Fi. They have an "infinity" roof top pool which is small but the water felt really nice in the 106 degree heat.
Following up on this, Anthony checked it out and said VP was still good. I reached out to the Grand and they confirmed VP is good for Free Play. I was told otherwise by a casino employee. My apology to anyone who changed plans based on the incorrect info I forwarded.
Before our week long trip to Vegas end of August, I followed surf87 and logged in to my DG account, searching for the free room/rebate redemption offer. Nothing. Never received the postcard either. So, I wondered if the lack of a similar offer to surf87 was due to the fact that I won on my first rebate redemption. Who knows? But, I called the DG players' club, and they said I did not need to stay in the hotel in order to redeem my second rebate.

While in Vegas, went to the DG to claim my second rebate (around $215). It was not already loaded on my players' club card, so had to visit the booth, where it was manually added by the boothling.

Off I went to the VP machines at the center bar. This time around, no luck. Managed to cash out for about $110 of my $215 rebate. Oh well. Still free money in my pocket.

Third and final rebate of $215 is available for redemption on October 1st, and is available for six months, I think.
