Republicans blow a kiss to Isis and shut down Homeland Security

If the Dems would agree to wack Obama's illegal alien golden parachute packages, I'm certain that the GOP would agree to fund Homeland Security. Obama and friends are hell bent on giving more free shit away (even to those who are here illegally), thus the fault lies with them. Besides, virtually all of Homeland security will arrive to work as they normally do, so you libs shouldn't get your panties all bunched up.

This is all to do about nothing.

The Department of Homeland Security is not shut-down, was not shut-down, and almost certainly will not be shut-down.

To allay the fears of the reader who anticipates imminent invasion if the Department of Homeland Security were defunded, DonDiego presents the likely events if a Federal Agency were, in fact, not funded.

A Brief Summary of Federal Shutdowns
DonDiego having lived several decades has actually seen, f'rinstance, the Department of Defense shut-down when one party or another was irritated at the then-current administration. Based on those instances here's what the interested reader should know in the event a federal agency is, in fact, not funded:
__i. The shutdown, if any will be brief - days rather than weeks.
__ii. The agency being shut down will have made lawful decisions as to which employees are "essential" and which employees are "non-essential".
__iii. Those employees designated "essential" will report for work as usual, . . . and put in their normal 3-to-4 hours of work during their 8-hour workday.
__iv. Those employees designated "non-essential" will be directed to stay home. It is, in fact, against the law for them to be on-the-job. After this brief "vacation" these employees will be directed to return to work where they will resume putting in their normal 2½-to-3 hours of work during their 8-hour workday. In spite of being designated "non-essential" they will all retain their jobs.
__v. The "essential employees" will receive their standard pay.
__vi. The "non-essential" employees will also receive their standard pay once the brief shut-down is ended, . . . including pay for any/all hours missed.

Conclusion: The shut-down will be little noticed by anyone, as the "essential personnel" will prove their mettle and handle the agency's business during the shut-down.

DonDiego trusts malibber2 will sleep soundly tonight.
Just a smaller tactical nuke on a Isis area for 2 or 3 days will get them to rethink things, but the politicians don't have the balls to do it. So the tangos will continue to run wild until a major situation occurs.
There is only one way to win a war.................slaughter everyone in site. Surgical strikes combined with carpet bombing and killing all is the only path to victory. Until we are willing to do this, and we will be within to do this within the next 20 years, there is no justification on the wasting money at war.

You know I hate to correct Don Diego especially when he thinks he is correcting me, but when you're wrong you're wrong.

The Republican's did fail to fund homeland security as I posted. After I posted that John Boehner went crying to Nancy Pelosi, "oh, please, please Nancy you don't understand how mean those other Republicans are to me won't you help me fund the Department of Homeland Security?"

Feeling sorry for John, Nancy told him she would help him out for a week, but he had to give up a concession which he gladly agreed to do. Again a very funny result. Republicans weren't smart enough to realize hostage taking doesn't work when you are in charge so they ended up giving concessions and now Boehner's speakership is in jeopardy. (according to conservative leaning Politico)

I will also point out Don Diego is wrong about DHS employees getting paid.

Some Republicans and members of the press have been trying to minimize the impact of the shutdown, by emphasizing the fact that 85 percent of DHS employees will still report to work (though they won't get paid until after the shutdown ends).

There are numerous other citations for this around the web. I'll leave it up to everyone else to decide how good employees will be that are forced to show up for work with no paycheck for as long as this goes on. How long would you continue to work if the boss wasn't paying you?
Not Getting Paid Link

BTW If Don Diego is willing to work on some vague promise of getting paid someday, I suggest he load up his car and head my way I have tons of work he can do. Don't worry it won't be anything important like national security just some good old fashioned manual labor.
Mally, virtually all Homeland employees will be a work forever. You don't have a clue.

Last I recall DHS was pretty much funded EXCEPT for a few small areas. Besides, Obama violated federal law with the bit about enforcement and then the excutive order.
The Republicans are stupid to play these shutdown brinkmanship games which have no possibility of victory.

Instead, they should attack the Veto of the Keystone Pipeline. The Pipeline would create several thousand high paying construction jobs paid for by our Canadian neighbors. Also support jobs, operations and maintenance jobs and jobs in refining. It also helps to secure energy resources, boosts our refining businesses and transports our shale oil as well as Canadian oil....Oh..and it will help keep energy prices low and continue to erode the market power of OPEC.

Republicans should reach out to reasonable Democrats to override the Keystone veto. If they can't find enough reasonable Democrats, they should continue to ratchet up the pressure on individual Democrats enlisting construction unions who are furious with President Obama on this issue.

Make that an election issue not an ill-advised shutdown akin to a tantrum. Instead, the Pipeline is shot down by President Obama against the will of the American People without even a whimper from the Republicans....they're all focused on a PR battle they can't win.

Of course what do I know? Last time they shut down the whole government I thought that was irresponsible too. Malliber even claimed the Republicans would never win another election because of it...and here they come out and dominate the mid-terms. Americans have a short memory for this shit.

I like to think of myself as an optimist. Right now I am giddy over the thought of the Republicans removing the crying man and putting some crazy pro-shutdown guy in charge until the next election. I think it would be great for the American people to get to see what the Republican party is all about and be reminded of it day after day.

The statement quoted above is a lie. PERIOD.

It was a lie when malibber2 posted it. PERIOD.

It was a lie when DonDiego posted that it was a lie, above. PERIOD.

It is a lie now. PERIOD.

No one has shut down Homeland Security. PERIOD.

[n.b. DpnDiego has employed the rhetoric of The Obama with regard to placing the word "PERIOD" after a simple declarative sentence, . . . as in "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. PERIOD, . . . so malibber2 knows it's really true. Really. PERIOD.]
