Instead, they should attack the Veto of the Keystone Pipeline. The Pipeline would create several thousand high paying construction jobs paid for by our Canadian neighbors. Also support jobs, operations and maintenance jobs and jobs in refining. It also helps to secure energy resources, boosts our refining businesses and transports our shale oil as well as Canadian oil....Oh..and it will help keep energy prices low and continue to erode the market power of OPEC.
Republicans should reach out to reasonable Democrats to override the Keystone veto. If they can't find enough reasonable Democrats, they should continue to ratchet up the pressure on individual Democrats enlisting construction unions who are furious with President Obama on this issue.
Make that an election issue not an ill-advised shutdown akin to a tantrum. Instead, the Pipeline is shot down by President Obama against the will of the American People without even a whimper from the Republicans....they're all focused on a PR battle they can't win.
Of course what do I know? Last time they shut down the whole government I thought that was irresponsible too. Malliber even claimed the Republicans would never win another election because of it...and here they come out and dominate the mid-terms. Americans have a short memory for this shit.
I do agree that this is not the best way to show your disapproval of all things "Obama". As for the pipeline it is the "shovel ready jobs" he mentioned in 09' that we needed badly. This is a project that is "shovel and construction ready". He delivered nothing on that when it was promised. As for the pipeline, his Hollywood friends just don't want a pipeline as they get in their electric car and drive to the airport and board their "carbon emission jets" flying around the world. Causing more harm to the enviorment then all their cars many time over (but they feel good about going green). He would not dare upset Warren Buffet as it is his railroads that are hauling the oils for now. A little transportation competition would be a good thing.
The majority of Americans are not for the executive order on immigration, that is where they need to make a stance as well. How bout' asking the voting public what they think of his "executive orders". Worst President and doing our country more harm than any other President on record!
