Resort Fees

Which hotel will be the first one to crack the $40 mark and what year do you think it will happen?

The Andaz Maui at Wailea already has a $40 resort fee. I have no doubt Vegas will follow at some point.

Resort fees should be illegal as hell. If you want to charge X for a room, just charge whatever X is and don't be so smarmy about it.

That's why I am staying downtown this trip. Although TI didn't have the best price, else I would have stayed there.

While it isn't being called a "resort fee", the parking fees charged by MGM Grand Resorts are an added fee. I feel that with the parking fee, they have indirectly broken the $40 barrier.

Let's see what the bean counters come up with next:

Casino admission?
Fee to catch a taxi or to exit a taxi?
Fees for bell service?
Fees for new towels or linens?
No more complimentary shampoo and other bathroom toiletries?
No more complimentary drinks to players?


Fee increases in 2016

Out of the 77 hotels listed below, 39 of them increased their resort fees in the last months!
(Not so) fun fact : if you would book one night in each of these 77 hotels in 2016 it would cost you $1 759 (+tax) in resort fees which is a 7% increase from last year!

From $29 to $30: MGM GRAND,
From $29 to $32: PALAZZO, VENETIAN,
From $25 to $30: MONTE CARLO, NEW YORK-NEW YORK
From $25 to $29: BALLY’S, HARRAH’S, SLS, THE LINQ, FLAMINGO, TRUMP
From $22 to $28: WESTGATE
From $20 to $25: GOLDEN NUGGET
From $19.95 to $24.99: WESTIN
From $17 to $24: TUSCANY SUITES
From $14 to $19.95: HOOTERS
From $9.99 to $14.99: SILVER SEVENS

BALLY’S, HARRAH’S, SLS, THE LINQ, FLAMINGO, TRUMP is my bet to go $40,first.
