I honestly think that hotels are missing an advertising ploy. Considering that they can get away with advertising low room rates and then sticking us with a daily mandatory resort fee (now topping the $30 per mark), with NO opposition...how about this?
In all the newspapers ads, TV commercials, and billboards, advertise rooms for $3 per night? Then when the public shows up, charge the $3 per night as promised but stick 'em with a $189 per night resort fee? C'mon MGM and CES properties...you're fucking lying to your customers now, go ahead and take it to the next level!
Here's a second thought: To all you ambulance chasing lawyers that spend tens of thousands of dollars every year clogging up the TV shows with your inane commercials, how about one of you getting the balls to issue a class action lawsuit for false advertising. When a billboard advertising $39 room rates at the Orleans or the Silverton and there is no mention (even in tiny writing) of a resort fee.
I know this issue has been taken to the courts already, but not under the false advertising statutes. These hotels are committing a fraud on the public.
