Resort Fees

I honestly think that hotels are missing an advertising ploy. Considering that they can get away with advertising low room rates and then sticking us with a daily mandatory resort fee (now topping the $30 per mark), with NO opposition...how about this?

In all the newspapers ads, TV commercials, and billboards, advertise rooms for $3 per night? Then when the public shows up, charge the $3 per night as promised but stick 'em with a $189 per night resort fee? C'mon MGM and CES properties...you're fucking lying to your customers now, go ahead and take it to the next level!

Here's a second thought: To all you ambulance chasing lawyers that spend tens of thousands of dollars every year clogging up the TV shows with your inane commercials, how about one of you getting the balls to issue a class action lawsuit for false advertising. When a billboard advertising $39 room rates at the Orleans or the Silverton and there is no mention (even in tiny writing) of a resort fee.

I know this issue has been taken to the courts already, but not under the false advertising statutes. These hotels are committing a fraud on the public.

As long as Vegas visitors pay the ripoff "resort" fees, the casinos will keep charging/raising them. Some people are just plain ignorant.
Yes Jon,we all agree!
I wish that the properties that NO NOT charge any "add-on" resort fees would say:

"WE DON'T CHARGE RESORT FEES!" At the top of their reservation forms.

All of the Boyd Properties do not. Right?
Uproar? You bet!
I thought that the FTC was going to get involved years ago.
What about The Better Business Bureau?
The State of Nevada doesn't care what goes on,I guess.

"We have cheap rates(Except for the resort fees)"
Some one is pissed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KObQN_gtqyg
This is more like it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X5LGfF-hYg
I filled out the form and submitted it to her!

It is quite the joke (and not a haha joke) that people are being charged for things they don't even use, fitness center, newspaper, etc. Absurd all these things were previously provided for the guests and now the bean counters figured they should charge for them, like it or not.
Some folks have decided that the value provide by a particular hotel casino is far above the cost, including the resort fee. That's an informed and thoughtful conclusion, and far from ignorant of the facts.

I understand that Milled hates these fees, yet some folks.............while cognisant of the fees, don't give a shit.

Yes, indeed, let's get the federal government to protect us from our inability to add. Brilliant.
As I said earlier in this thread, all I look at is the total price I'm paying and whether I think it's worth that I'm getting. I do understand the ire this practice creates for some, along with the thought of false advertising. That being said, two options exist for the future. One is the continued practice of price plus resort fee. The other The other is a price inclusive of the resort fee. One way or the other they'll get their money.

As a low roller who generally pays for rooms, resort fee or not, I'm glad to be paying less than I did twenty years ago.

Good Luck!

Resort fees are a rort. However... if you get comped rooms due to play... then the resort fees are NOT charged. In my upcoming visit to Vegas (March) I've got 17 nights, 15 of which are fully comped, and none of them are charging any resort fees for those comped nights. Seems to be a standard formula.

On that basis, play to stay - then these issues go away. Of course you could end up losing $1000 to get that free "$30" room, but still... LOL

If you just want good value without the fees, then stay at Binions / 4 Queens / Main St Station / Fremont / California, with no resort fees.

This is not true of CET. Only Diamond and 7 star get their resort fees waived. Everyone else pays the resort fee on a comped room. (sadly)
