Resort Fees

I really see no big deal it the cost of doing business. Most times on rental cars start with the base price and by the time the add-ons put on the price is almost double the starting price. It is whatever the traffic will bare is the going rate.

Just booked a rental through Costco.com, as I always do. Blatantly obvious out-the-door pricing across categories and companies. Not sure what's so hard to figure out.
I do not like the resort fees.
I consider them like tipping in restaurants, the extra fees on rental cars and what you pay when you buy a car. A royal pain in the ass!!
However, I consider them when I decide to visit Vegas and where I want to stay.

Sorry rooms are so expensive in Brownsburg. You should try Fishers!!!! We are up and coming!

Yep, that's called a free market. Ain't it wonderful!

Don't like to patronize a place with resort fees? No spend your money there. I fail to see what all this whining about resort fees accomplishes.
I checked Fishers hotel prices tonight, and while you don't have a Fairfield Inn, the Holiday Inn Express is $114 plus tax. My point was accurately made that Paris Casino at $85 is a better deal than the Brownsburg Fairfield Inn at $99..............and the same goes for your Holiday Inn Express.

that is like comparing apples to oranges. Fishers and Brownsburg don't have the local competition that Vegas does. nor do they have a money guzzling casino to make up for their loss leader promotional rates or "free" rooms.
The Resort Fees thread has turned into a discussion of Fishers, IN & Brownsburg, IN hotel prices. Who would have thunk it?

It's very refreshing.
It's true we don't have the casinos that Las Vegas has, but Indiana has its share of casinos.

I like the discussion of Fishers and Brownsburg. Much more civilized and not so....snarky??
My comparison of Brownsburg hotel prices (without resort fees), and Vegas hotel prices (with resort fees) was an attempt to bring perspective......................as some folks could stand to gain a little perspective.
Your comparison made me smile!!

I think most ARE smart enough to add 2+2. I think the anger and frustration is in the silliness of it all. for example when the room rate is lower than the resort fee. It DOES happen. I have seen it at the D and the Golden Gate. room = $17 resort fee = $20. so all together $37 + tax is not a bad deal, but now doesn't that just look absurd? are the "perks" that I am getting worth more than the room itself? HELL NO! STOP THE MADNESS ALREADY!!

At the golden gate hotel the "resort perks" ARE worth more than the standard room. And there are no resort perks.

I have stayed in better Youth Hostels than the GoldenGate. In fact I would take a room at the closed LasVegasClub over one at the GoldenGate.
