Resort Fees

I knew resort fees had spread outside Las Vegas but apparently they are now in Tunica, MS. I got an offer from the Gold Strike (MGM property) with the following in the small print:

*First night room, resort fee, and tax due at the time of booking.

And the courts have said this is legal. The airlines have to list the total price so it stands to reason that the hotel industry should too.

I just stayed a night at Gold Strike. The confirmation letter was a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo about charges at check in. Room was comped, had no charges in the end.

But IMO the Gold Strike doesn't compare with Horseshoe as far as quality of rooms (tiny bathroom), cleanliness of casino, etc. I was disappointed.

Stay at Horseshoe. Rooms much nicer, even if you have to pay a resort fee. Only downside of Horseshoe, no breakfast buffet. There might be one over at Roadhouse. Gold Strike breakfast buffet is OK.

So who doesn't have resort fees now?
A list of who DOES: https://www.lasvegasdirect.com/las-vegas-hotel-resort-fees.html

NO resort fees:

Downtown,Boyd's does not but that doesn't include Sam Town and others.
This is about my attitude:

Yeah, that guy is a bit miffed.
It's been awhile since I stayed at Roadhouse but the buffet there has been gone for years. They restaurant by hotel check in was even reducing hours and may be gone now. I originally started this thread because I had never seen or heard of a resort fee in Tunica.
I had booked the GS for this Friday on a one day free offer and the offer noted no resort fee on comped rooms (had played it last trip for about 2 hours...first time in about 10 years). Decided one night sucked so booked Roadhouse for 2 nights comped (and also have 2 nights at Sams for a tier exclusive party). The restaurant is still at the Roadhouse, but no buffet as you pointed out. We much prefer the RH over the Shoe, like the rooms better, less busy, and the VP area is much nicer (with all FP $DDB slant top machines). Same host for both.
Interesting note that when I cancelled the GS, explaining one night was not enough, I shortly thereafter got an email offering 3 comped nights.
