But back to the point....I see Don Diego offers the same (solution?) the good doctor offers up...suggesting the problem is solved by workers with crappy jobs getting better jobs. Great. But won't their replacements then be in the same predicament?

I wont use a metaphor so as not to confuse Don Diego. Very simply....how does the net number of people applying for food stamps/medcaid go down when the net number of employment opportunities inducing those progams does not?

Wouldnt thi become a supply and deman issue at some point? Eventully that labor force would dry up forcing emplyors to offer higher pay to attract replacements.Of course there are new young people to make up for some of the dain but shouldn't those kind of jobs be for them?

I am deleting my previous statement I posted here. I was wrong. jatki99 is learning how to type on a tablet. That is why his post are what they are.

The answer to your question does not lie in speculation. American history provides a good example.
I invite Jatki to look at the size of the middle class, and income distribution in America prior to the New Deal era of FDR. Or you can simply look at places that dont have minimum wage laws today (or incredibly low min wage laws). I'll point you to all those SE Asia countries Walmart gets all their goodies.

Supply and demand didn't resolve the issue in our history or in those Asian countries today. Our evil government had to force the hands of corporate America to treat their workers like human beings. And the corporations have been fighting back ever since. I'm worried they might be getting the upper hand lately.

" I'm worried they might be getting the upper hand lately."

Perhaps big Business would not be getting the "upper hand ' if the Obama administration, like many other before him, weren't in bed together . If makes me ill when these politicians, like Nancy Pelosi, talk about income inequality or greedy big business . Then you discover they are multi Millonaires and provide special deals for there friends, or spouses. Or how about Obama's biggest campaign contributor - Goldman Sachs.
It's laughable and sad at the same time. Bob

This is the system we've created. We've said to politicians that they HAVE to pander to the wealthy in order to have the money to campaign.

Unless the politician himself or herself is fabulously wealthy and can self-fund (Bloomberg, Corzine, Scott), politicians literally have no choice but to suck up to wealthy people for campaign cash. If they don't, they don't win. It's just that simple.

Fix that, and we fix a lot of problems.
A Powerball or Mega Millions win would sure solve a lot of problems for an individual.
Well eventually the people have to decide they have suffered enough, and be done with the cronyism. That is the only way things get better.

Electing politicians that owe big corporations favors is self defeating. Unfortunately half the country is insane and thinks the real enemy is the Union employee making 40k because they are only making 30k. The spend all their energy trying to tear the union guy making 40k down never seeing the real culprits that are raping and robbing them blind.
