Ring of Fire Eclipse on Sunday

Ring of Fire Eclipse

Don’t know if you guys knew about this or not, so thought I’d pass it along. If it’s clear this should be quite spectacular. K

Ring of Fire Eclipse Info
I hear eclipse glasses sold out immediately as the annular eclipse date approached. I will now go to Lowe's or Home Depot to inquire about replacement welding mask lenses (which apparently are safe to use for solar eclipse-viewing).
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE !

DonDiego always suggests employing a pinhole-projection technique, . . . and not looking directly at the sun even with "protection".
Lots of things folks think are protection are not.

#14 Welders Glass is OK. Eclipse glasses are OK.

Eclipse Safety

Unfortunately those residing in Appalachia, like poor old DonDiego, will be unable to participate in todays eclipse festivities.
Here's an animation. DonDiego opines to see the actual "ring of fire", one must be within the little red circle.

But on 21 August 2017 a total eclipse of the Sun will give folks from Oregon to South Carolina an even bigger treat. And some Appalachians in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee will be in the path of totality. It'll be a reasonable drive for DonDiego and teechur.

DonDiego recommends anyone within a day's drive make plans to see this. A total eclipse of the Sun is truly a spectacular event. DonDiego has traveled thousands of miles to see two of them; he would do so again, . . . . but in 5 years one'll practically come to him.

Here's an animation. That teeny black dot is the path-of-totality.
Hey...I think Fresno is in the little red circle! Dang. Upon closer review, this will be far north of Fresno.

Another View:

If one is on the red centerline, one will see a uniform ring-of-fire.

If one is within the blue box, one will see an offset ring-of-fire; if one is on the blue line the edge of the moon won't quite clear the edge of the sun.

Outside the blue box, one will essentially be observing a partial solar eclipse.
I guess you have to go to the Silverton to get your eclipse glasses. I tried to look at it and my eyes are burning.
