RIP Kenny Stabler aka The Snake

One news organization retracted the death until his wife came forward and confirmed it. He was 69.

He led a fast lane life when he was with the Raiders and remains one of my all time favorite quarterbacks.

RIP Kenny......The "Snake" nickname was so appropriate for him!
Hard to believe that two of the most "colorful" QB's in NFL history played for strict disciplinarian Bear Bryant at Alabama. Namath and Stabler. I always loved seeing Oakland play on TV as kid because I knew they would air it out.
Rest in Peace Kenny "Snake" Stabler

Many, many years ago my neighbor who was about 20 years old at the time wrote to Kenny Stabler and said hey when you are in town let's go out on a date. If I remember correctly the Raiders were coming to Tampa for a game. Stabler wrote back and said send me your picture. She responded by sending him a baby picture. He thought that was so funny they hooked up when he came to town. It never amounted to anything but at least they went out.

Edited to add. My brother reminded me it was during the 1978 Pro Bowl.
A very good yet often overlooked QB because he didn't fit the mold. Whatever the "mold" may be.
I think too people looked at the awesome offensive line he had at Oakland in their glory years
and thought "hey I could throw some TD passes if I had protection like that" and gave The Snake less credit.
He had the clutch gene, which most football stats don't reflect.

The Snake was a great QB and he was the one to have in a clutch, that or Roger "the dodger".
