The robins are here, the robins are here!

The robins have arrived here in northern Indiana, a sure sign that spring has sprung. They are ground feeders, and their instinct tells them that the time of snow cover on the ground is rapidly coming to an end.

I like the way they hold their heads high and stick out their chest in a defiant posture, as if daring winter to prove them wrong.

Who else is seeing robins in their area?

Indy, we get them here in southern Ohio typically as early as Feb. I haven't seen one yet, however I wouldn't be too suprised if they have been out and about already.

Although if your proclaming the first signs of spring, they sprang a few weeks ago. Oh, when the ever shy boobies, start showing parts of themselves, spring is in the air.
I saw them in my backyard here in Pennsylvania about a week ago.
We don't get them here in Southern California, but I just noticed yesterday that my Sweetgum tree is starting to leaf out! Now if it would just get out of the 60s!

Chef, spring has been a rumor here in northern Indiana until the robins arrived. It has been a brutal winter here, 105" of snow and incessant wind and cold. Coincidentally (or not) with their arrival, we are getting into the 50's today for the first time this year, and in the 60's tomorrow.

They are beautiful. Just dont tell my evil cat. She likes the robbins too...but in a sick, Jeffery Dahmer kind of way.

LOL!

The mid to upper 60's will be here on thursday, and all next week is looking for highs in the low to mid 50's.

We ended up with a cold winter with not much snow. Not sub-aero cold, just cold.

Out of the 60s? We're just hoping to get into the 60s! LOL
DonDiego saw a yellow-rumped warbler this week, . . . his first ever.
