Although I don't want to listen to the podcast, I will say this to LV Rookies:
01). Bring comfortable walking shoes because you're likely to end up doing a lot more walking than you think. Walks among and between casinos (especially on the Strip) can be long;
02). Keep well hydrated with water. Las Vegas has a dry desert climate and heat (it should be pretty warm after Memorial Day) and Alcohol do not mix well. So at the very least if you're going to drink alcohol, switch off with water;
03). Some Clubs and Restaurants might have a Dress Code, so check into that;
04). The Strip tends to have higher prices for at least rooms and food so you do have other choices for less expensive stuff if you like (like going Downtown to Fremont Street);
05). Get your hands on the "Members' Rewards Book" And Online Coupons that come with a subscription to Anthony Curtis' Las Vegas Advisor Newsletter as well as the current 2013 Edition of the American Casino Guide book plus any Freebie magazines that you can get your hands on (such as "24/7 Vegas," "Vegas2Go," "Vegas Values Coupon Booklet," and "Today In Las Vegas") where you can find good information about LV as well as coupons for discounted food, shows and other things;
and 06). If you haven't learned to play casino games well, get some good books and computer programs and take the time and effort to practice since it will at the very least increase your chances of being able to play for a longer period of time. And don't think that game rules and pay schedules for machines are the same everywhere. They can actually differ a lot and if you end up with bad paying stuff, it can become quite costly!
