And see grandma as a cocktail waitress.
where did you read this? are you sure it's not just one of the hotel towers closing or something.

in 2009, i had a pretty good time low rolling at the Sahara on a couple of occasions. $5 3:2 BJ, $5 craps. yay. reasonable cocktail service. last year i dropped in on Super bowl weekend to find everything under $25 BJ was 6:5. assuming that they had just done this to fleece the vegas newbies over the big superbowl weekend, i was there again in April. still 6:5. People who play $25 a hand BJ are not going to do it at the Sahara. Don't have a good reason to go back in the place now.

Come now, next you know Circus Circus will be demo'd...Only wishfull thinking.

DonDiego cannot find any news or rumor, . . . not even on the Las Vegas Casino Deathwatch website.
As I wrote on another site, with the Tropicana having remodeled, it seems like the Riviera or the Sahara are the two most likely candidates to come down next. Unless a hotel is just losing too much money, I can't see a developer wanting to tear down and build a new hotel right now.

I stayed at the Riviera for 3 nights last week. I was talking to a bartender I know who has worked there for many years, and he was more upbeat about the future of the place than he has been for several years. He told me a recent shake up in ownership has resulted in some very positive changes to the place. The attitude of all of the employees was much improved from the last time I stayed there (two years ago).

Interesting read for sure. I sure hope they don't close . Even though I have never done well there and the place looks as old as Jackie Gaughan there is something about the place I like. I guess it is one of the last of the orginal hotels and casino's plus I am still trying to get over the loss of the Stardust.

Oh well. I guess there is still downtown.
