Sam's Tow- Day 3

Woke up in the morning thinking of what we were going to eat for breakfast. Steak and eggs at the Eastside Cannery sounded pretty good, but I had to get the other half up and at 'em. Taking one look at her resting comfortably made me realize that wasn't going to happen. Since my Gold Card was good for the Java Hut , which is the coffee kiosk in the atrium, I decided to get some coffee and whatever kind of danish that they offered. When I got on the main elevator, I looked down through their glass wall and some something going on near the Java Hut. Looked like they were working on the "down" escalator as they had all kinds of caution sign surround it.

When I got down to the first floor and walked over to the Java Hut, lo and behold there were ST workers dismantling the kiosk. What the heck was going on here? Seems like that morning was the last day for them to be in business at ST. The other kiosk noticeably missing was the cart that sold the coated peanuts, cashews and pecans. What was going on at this place? The GF always loved to buy those coated nuts and bring them home for gifts...as well as have them for our consumption. Maybe they were reserving that area for something new. But I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone. When I later spoke to my friend at the front desk, he told me that yesterday was the last day for the woman that had a jewlery kiosk as they had canceled her lease also. He also mentioned that the Java Hut and some other venue were going to move to the long ago closed Ethel M's Chocolate store, and they would be open 24 hours a day. He also mentioned that the gift shop might start selling jewelry to make up for the closed kiosk.

It was time to go to my second option which was Dunkin Donuts which is located down by the movie theatre. There's hardly any DD shops in Calif....the only one I've ever seen is on Pacific Coast Hwy near Redondo Beach...which is near the LA area. So it's a real treat to get to Vegas and renew my love affair with their vanilla creme donuts. At one point I felt the same way about Krispy Kremes, but I believe they are no longer in the Stations Casinos, and closed up all the shops but one in the San Diego area. So I bought my vanilla donuts and a lemon filled for her, along with a coffee and milk and an orange juice to take my meds and vitamins.

When I got back upstairs, we started talking about what we were going to do that day. She wanted to rest some more before going out shopping at Wal Mart. I still wanted to get my hair cut, and called the front desk to find out where a barber might be. She told me that there was a stylist right her in the hotel on the second floor. You know when you hear the word "stylist" that it's going to cost more money than usual. After finishing off my donuts, and spending some time on the PC, I took a shower and headed downstairs.

I got off the back elevator on the second floor, and just as I exited the door for the casino, I noticed that next door was "Gatsby's" who was the hair stylist. You could also get a manicure and massage. However, they were closed on Mondays. That figured. So I decided to go down to the Winchester bar and play for a while until she got ready to go out for the day.

The progressive jackpot was now over $1235. It had been hit on Saturday before we go there for over $2600. Too bad, because it would now be over $3000 and well worth hitting. Not that I wouldn't take the $1235 now being offered. Slipped in a twenty and bagan playing for quarters. If I went through $40, my plan was to go back to the High Limit area and play dollars. I went through the first twenty and put in another. I had switched over from the left side of the bar and moved to the right side. When I first sat down, I had left a $1 tip for my first soft drink. Moving to the other side, I ordered another. The $1 tip I left was my last single. I now had $925 in my pocket after I put in the second $20. I had 9 $100 bills, a twenty, and one five. I asked the bartender to break a five for me after I ordered my 2nd drink. I gave her the five. Well we all were involved in conversations about Osama and other things. I kept playing and soon enough it was time for another drink. I put my handin my pocket and had no singles. I asked the bartender for my change of $5. They told me they already gave it to me. I always keep my bills in the same pocket so I reached in my pocket again and looked at the same bills that I had just looked at a minute ago. Now once in a while I'll stick some singles in my shirt pocket if I'm busy playing. But this was a new shirt, and the pockets had never been opened. I check my other pants pockets as well as my wallet, and finally looked on the floor. There was no money to be found. When I told them I never got the change, she walked over to the register area and looked around. Now I trust this bartender completely, and when she came back to tell me she didn't have it, I figured she lost track of things with all the conversation going on. But what I didn't like was that she came back to me and told me to just take it out on my next few drinks. I really didn't like that answer as she's known me for about 14 years . If I didn't have a single 5 dollar bill on me, I would have thought it was my mistake, but there was no doubt in my mind that I was right. Finished off the second $20 and moved to the High Limit area.

I went to the machines were we had played the night before and put in a hundred. I wouldn't be playing too long since I was sure that she was getting ready and would want to go soon. The machine was giving me a lot of play, and although I wasn't making much money, I sure was putting on a lot of points. All I wanted to do was hit one 4OAK and then go out shopping. It wasn't too long that I got my wish. Needless to say I was switching back and forth between BP and DDB. I wasn't going to play that Triple Double Bonus Poker until I had really built up a lead, and since I was going to go upstairs when I hit anything decent, that game wouldn't be played until that night...if at all. I switched back from DDB to BP, and within a few hands got dealt 2 Aces. Wouldn't you know it, I got two more Aces on the draw....and needless to say it had the 4 kicker. RATS!!!! Why did I switch back from DDB. But that's the way it goes. Like she would always say to me, "if you were playing DDB, you wouldn't have hit it. Just be thankful you hit it on BP!" How can you argue with that logic? I cashed out over $400.

I went upstairs to round her up and down to the valet we headed. She wanted to go to Wal Mart get some Zyrtec and some Prilosec. She also wanted a hand grip that you attach to the shower wall. We have them on the bathtub wall, but forgot to take one with us. Turns out that Wal Mart didn't have one...at least we couldn't find one...and I couldn't believe it when she wanted to go back to the hotel. I resisted my urge to pass out from shock and headed straight to the check out. I'm not "Mr. Shopper", and the less time I spend in stores, the more I like it. When we got back, I took her back to the room where she had things to do, and I headed back to the casino. I was still pissed at the bartender, even though I knew she hadn't done it on purpose, so I headed for the Stage Coach bar on the second floor. I also wanted to be close to the registration area for the slot tournament. I'm sure they would have the usual buffet, but I wondered what the gift would be. Since the line was already long to register, I headed back to the bar, and would check every 15 minutes to see how long the wait was to register. Since I wasn't going to play too long, I stuck with quarters on DDB. That way I wouldn't get stuck so much and had a chance for a decent hit if I should happen to hit 4Aces W/kicker. Well that didn't happen but I did pick up 4 Jacks for a decent win. At this point I thought there wouldn't be a lione any longer and I was right. Entered the registration area only to see a small crowd that were already eating. I started going througth the envelopes to find the one with my name on it, when the pretty Cynthia came over to help me find mine. While she was digging out me "gift" I turned around and looked at a table filled with chips and salsa. Where were all the goodies that they had at the other tournaments? She told me there were the buffet tables along both walls. I asked her how many players were in the tournament. When she told me only 125, I couldn't believe it. In the past, there were always 300-400 people. Boy, this would really give me a good shot at coming in the money since they payed out 50 places. 26th -50th wouild be $50 in slot play. First place paid $7500, and as far as I was concerned, this was a +EV event.

As I neared the buffet tables, I couldn't believe what they were offering. Basically mexican quesadillas and tacos. I really didn't care one way or the other unless they had swedish meatballs, but I guess they adjusted the quality of the food according to how many players they would have. I wolfed down a meat taco as I didn't want ot spoil my appetite for Billy Bob's that night.

Went back upstairs and asked her when she wanted to eat. I was ready to eat right then and there. She told me 7....then 7:30. I then knew we wouldn't be there until 8. And I was almost right as we made it to the hostess bt 7:50pm. I asked the hostess for the same waiter, Chalan, that we had the night before at Willy and Joses. We got a nice booth on the same side as the bar. Our waiter was happy to see us and promtly asked us what we wanted to drink. I had my usual Jack Daniels Manhattan, and she ordered her usual Cuervo Gold. When she asked if she could get a half dozen oysters I said sure and knew that with the Cuervo Gold that she would soon be making oyster shooters. I don't know why. but for some reason, even though I don't eat clams or oysters, I enjoy watching a woman eat them.

It was time to order the main course, and she wanted to share a plate. Forget that I told her, they're paying for it so get what you want. She ordered King Crab lega with a small filet. I ordered the larger filet with a side of Bernaise sauce. HMMMM! Baked potatoes for both of us and she shared my salad. I forgot how much I enjoye BB's until I took my first bite. The steak was cooked perfectly and it almost melted in my mouth. When I looked over to her platter, I couldn't believe how many crab legs she got. The legs spilled way over her plate and I couldn't believe how many they gave her. Turns out it really didn't matter as she gave the waiter 3/4 of the legs and 3/4 of the filet. That was a nice bonus tip for him. We finished off the meal with Creme Brulee for desert, and I must say that Twin Creeks has it beat to death. For some reason...it was just too thick is the only was to describe it. We only had a small amount, and I ordered my favorite after dinner drink, Sambuca Romana. We wound up taking the drinks with us to the Winchester bar.

When we arrived at the bar, I asked her what she wanted to play...dollars or quarters....what a stupid question as I inserted her slot card and gave her a $100 bill. It was now around 10:30, and she mentioned that she wanted to go up soon. She told me I could come down later. When she wanted to go upstairs, we were stuck about $600. When we were walking down the hall to our room, I had already made up my mind that I was tired and would wait until tomorrow to try and make up the losses. We were stuck around $340 for the day, and I didn't want to make the loss even worse.

See you tomorrow.
Bags, great trip report as usual. Sounds like you're hangin in there as far as the money goes, I always feel if I can hang close, I'll hit something and get ahead. I look forward to your future t/r's, you always give a lot of wonderful details. Good luck!!

Not sure if I am reading this correctly. Are you saying you gave the waiter crab legs and part of a filet as a tip to the waiter?
