Sam's Town- Day 2

About when the NBA was finished for the day, I made my way downstairs to start playing. After all, I'm not getting all these comps for nothing. I decided to stop by the Winchester bar for my first try, and was surprised to see another favorite bartender on duty. When I told her I thought she didn't work until Monday, she told me she's been working Sundays for 17 years! Duh! I should have remembered that she was there for the Sunday football games. Oh well! Sat down at a machine and decided to warm up on quarters. When I pissed away $40, I decided to go back to the High Limit area....not to play $5...but to play dollars. I picked an end machine and inserted my slot card as well as $100. I began to play, and hit the first 7 hands I played. No big hands mind you, but winners non the less. After losing the 8th hand, I came back to win the next three. What happened next was something that has never happened to me before. When I sat down, I had 102 credits for the day. I now played for almost a half hour between 100-135 credits. No more and no less. Before the streak ended, I had 2752 credits. When I would get down to 105 credits, I would hit a straight or two pair or three of a kind which boosted me up . When I got to 135 credits, I would start to go downhill until I reached 105 credit again. Then I would hit something again. Mind you, I never hit anything more than a straight. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get 4 OAK even after I was dealt 3. You'd thing with a run like this, I would have to hit at least a full house..but none was coming...at least not yet. When I finally got to 140 credits, I thought that this was it, and I was due to break out. But that wasn't going to happen. Finally, I hit the downward curve and busted out. I decide to try the machine next to me for a change of luck. As I swithed off from BP to DDB, I decided to look at other games that were offered. There was a game called TRIPLE BONUS DOUBLE POKER. It was almost the same as DDB, but it pa id 4000 credits for 4 Aces w/kicker. It also paid 2000 credits for 2-3-4's w/kicker. That sounded like my kind of game, especially since it still paid 800 for 4 Aces, 400 for four 2-3-4's and 250 four any other 4OAK. I switched to this game with visions of sugar plums locked in my head. But I kept on pouring hundreds of dollars into this machine with no positive results. This was a four bank machine with foour more machines on the other side. I moved to the third machine, and the hundreds kept on pouring into the machine. Then I moved to the fourth machine. This was getting to be BS, and instead of going up to the room to get money out of the safe, I opted to go to the ATM and make a withdrawal of $700. When I got back to the same machine, I decide to play one more hundred before seeking greener pastures. Well that didn't work out. Totally frustrated, I stood up and looked at what machine I was going to play. My first choice was to go back to the first machine I played. It didn't give me much, but it sure gave me a lot of play for my money. But it was going to be stubborn this time, and although it gave me a lot of play, the hundred soon wore out it's welcome and disappeared into the night. Time to switch machines. As I stood up to move to the second machine, I heard someone call out, "Where's your other half?" I lookled over and it was my bartend, I must be in the clear. er getting off shift. SHIT! It must be after 5 pm. She told me she would be ready to go downstairs around this time. Oh well! Since she didn't page me, I must be in the clear. I sat down at the third machine again knowing I would be paged at any minute.

I begged this machine to treat me right as I was now stuck about $1300 after I put in the next hundred. I don't want to tell you how many times I got dealt 3 Jacks, and EVERY time I hit the deal button, I Queen would fill in the blank space. This happened to me at least 5 times. But, things were about to change. I knew I didn't have too much time to play as she would be paging me very shortly. I got dealt 2 sixes, and wouldn't you know it,m FINALLY I caught 2 more 6's. That was a nice hit! Within 5 more minutes, I was dealt 3 3's. I begged the machine to spit out one more three...and a kicker wouldn't be that bad. Sure enough the fourth 3 appeared, but without the kicker. That was acceptable, but the kicker would have not only got me even, but up for the day. I now had over 600 credits, and I kept waiting for that page. It didn't come, but I decided to cash out and live to fight another day. After all the day was young, and there would be more playing after dinner.

I had my heart set on Billy Bob's for dinner, but I soon found out it was going to be Willy and Joses. Tomorrow night would be Billy Bob's. I came back upstairs and as she was still putting on make up, I laid down on the bed and fell into a peaceful sleep. I really didn't realize hiow tired I was. After all, getting to bed at 3 am, and waking up at 8"30 am wasn't exactly a good nights rest. Fortunately, her getting ready in 20 minutes lasted about an hour. I woke up and was ready to go downstairs.
Willy and Jose's had moved to where Fellini's used to be inside Mystic Falls in the atrium. We asked for an outdoor table and were seated at a table for 4. It was really nice seated "outdoors" and the waterfall made for a very relaxing moment. While we ordered our drinks, the Lazer Light show was starting. I hadn't watched the show in a long time, and decided to pay attention for this show. We decided to split a combo even though everything was going to be comped. She had a Chile Rellano, and I had the cheese enchilada. When I looked at our waiter, I knew I recognized him. When he came back to the table, then I really recognized him, and him me. When he told me his name, I asked him if he remembered me. He sure as hell did. Two years ago, when we were eating at Billy Bob's, someone walked the check(didn't pay) on him. When we were getting such lousy service, I asked him what was the problem. He told me about someone that didn't pay and he was responsible. I felt bad for the guy and gave hime the $60 he was short. I still left him a nice tip even after covering for the guy that took a walk. He was still very appreciative and told me he was working at Billy Bob's the next night. I told him we would be there that night and would ask for him to be our waiter.. Dinner was great and we ordered some fried ice cream to top off the meal. I always wondered how they did that. Anyway, the ice cream was topped with a vanilla wafer of sorts with a chocolate icing. He came back with a box of about 12 wafers that we took up to the room.

We were eventually goiong back to the HighLimit area, but first we were going to hit the Winchester bar to get olur drinks to take to the High Limit area. We played some quarters for a while and then I was ready to go and get REVENGE on these machines that took all my money.

When we got to the HL machines, I decided we should play on the "other" side of the machines that beat me. We each slipped in a "honeybee" and started playing. I went right for the throat and started playing the game that took so much money from me, Triple Double Bonus Poker! But this time the machine was treating me kindly and I started racking up credits. When I finally got up to 200 credits, I was dealt 3 10's. The fourth one filled in and I now had 450 credits. The machine continued to play, and I managed to cash out 500 credits. Well that got back 400 credits, but I still needed MORE! I slipped in another hundred, and the machine continued to play. In no time flat I was dealt 4 3's. I was playing DDB at the time, and if I hit the kicker, it would give me 800 credits. Not the 2000 credits if I were playing TDBP, but a nice hit no less. Sure enough, the deuce kicker appeared for 800 credits, and I was approaching "get even" time in nothing flat.

But I still had a long row to hoe. But this machine was still going to be good to me, and four deuces appeared in no time. I now had a 800, 500, and 400 TITO in my pocket, and I was ready to call it a night. We decided to give one more try at the Winchester bar and played quarters for the $1257 jackpot. We didn't hit the jackpot, but I hit 4 Jacks, and she followed shortly with straight flush after deciding to give up the four card straight and going for the 2 card SF. Believe me, she got very lucky.

We then both switched to dollars and had mixed results. Sti, and decided ll wound up with a nice profit for the night and decided to go upstairs. Found out Osama Bin Laden was killed. Sure wish he was taken alive as I believe that he had nothing to do with 911. But that's just my opinion. Just funny how the Bush family had business dealing with his family and the only planes flying that day were to pick up Bin Laden family members. Also curious how George W. called off the search for Bin Laden, when the whole world was looking for him. But that's another story. Tomorrow is registration day for the slot tournament with a buffet dinner and "gifts" to be given out. I'll fill you in on the details tomorrow.
You mentioned the pays on the higher end of Triple Double Bonus but I don't know if you noticed, or realized, that the trade off for those is that 3 of a kind only get 2 (10), instead of 3 (15). That increases the volatility quite a bit and may help to explain why the sugar plums took a nap.
once upon a time while playing tdb wheel poker and i got aces with a kicker - which pays the same as a royal - and THEN i got to spin the wheel!

i dont play tdb anymore because you kind of cant top that.

That's funny, I really didn't notice that 3 OAK pays only 2 instead of 3. I'm sure I would have noticed that on at least one of my 3OAK's. I'll have to go down and check that out.

Found out that TDBP does pay only 2 for 3AOK. However, it still pays 9 for a full house.

Thanks for the trip report.

I thought you were doing great until you got into the political stuff at the end. Where did you get your information on President Bush, the national inquirer? As far as "not" killing Osama B.L.....are you kidding me?
