Sanctuary cities??

I'm sure your statistics are soothing to Kathryn Steinle's parents. Why should "one" innocent person die just because a known criminal is allowed to be here illegally?
Forky is cherry picking his stats again. Detroit, Baltimore, DC, LA are all sanctuary cities & they have very high murder rates.

Was in San Fran last week & visited the Embarcadaro where this incident took place. In spite of this incident, not a cop in sight.
Oh dear, I hope you remembered to bring your Depends™.

And there's this:

Do you care to provide the number of murders, by city, committed by illegal immigrants?

How about the number of murders, by city, committed by illegal immigrants who had been deported at least once previously?

The numbers should be ZERO because these people have no legal right to be here in the first place. I'm sure President Obama will be calling the Kate Steinle family this week. He has been so busy with golf and Africa trips, I'm sure it just slipped his mind.

You sure about that?

Do your own homework.

But for national stats, here is what the The Economist published a few weeks ago:

"Crime has fallen even as the proportion of Americans born on foreign soil has grown, and as rates of unauthorised immigration have gone up..."

"...crunching the numbers turns up "essentially no correlation between immigrants and violent crime."

"...increases in immigration and language diversity over the decade of the 1990s predicted decreases in neighborhood homicide rates in the late '90s and up to 2006."

"...Mexican immigrants are less prone to violence than native-born Americans, whites or black, of comparable age and socio-economic status."

"Cities of concentrated immigration are some of the safest places around."

"American white guys with high-school diplomas are more likely to get tossed in the can than Guatemalan or Honduran fellows without them."

All this bickering is pointless.

The long hard fact is, giving sanctuary to ILLEGAL immigrants is wrong. Period.

Even if the illegal immigrants made these cities a better place, it is wrong.

If illegals committed no crimes (other than being in the US) it is still wrong.

Get in line, fill out the paperwork and do it right.

I was just about to pretty much say the same thing. Illegal is illegal, no stats, factoids, or articles can ever change this FACT.

Okay, I'll play.

"The long hard fact is, giving sanctuary to marijuana users (illegal under federal law) is wrong. Period.

Even if permitting marijuana use made these states a better place, it is wrong.

Even if marijuana is medically beneficial it is still wrong."

Cowboy, you sure you want to stick with that line of reasoning?
Forky encouraged me to do some research on the topic. Here is what I found:

Crimes By Illegal Immigants

Tucked inside a report about President Obama’s new amnesty is the estimation from the Migration Policy Institute there are 820,000 illegal aliens in the United States with criminal convictions, including 690,000 illegal aliens currently residing on U.S. soil who have been convicted of a felony or “serious” misdemeanor.

The 820,000 figure is not an estimation of total crimes committed by illegal immigrants—which would be a much higher number—but only those illegal aliens successfully identified, arrested, tried, and convicted.

Do you really think we should allow nearly 700,000 people to stay in America when they are here illegally in the first place and then convicted of serious crimes?

Dude, you trust Breitbart and I'll trust The Economist. Is that okay?
