All this bickering is pointless.

The long hard fact is, giving sanctuary to ILLEGAL immigrants is wrong. Period.

Even if the illegal immigrants made these cities a better place, it is wrong.

If illegals committed no crimes (other than being in the US) it is still wrong.

Get in line, fill out the paperwork and do it right.
Okay, I'll play.

"The long hard fact is, giving sanctuary to marijuana users (illegal under federal law) is wrong. Period.

Even if permitting marijuana use made these states a better place, it is wrong.

Even if marijuana is medically beneficial it is still wrong."

Cowboy, you sure you want to stick with that line of reasoning?

You really gotta be joking there Forkie. You want to compare smoking a little weed with the overwhelming problem of illegals in this country? This, far and away, is your lamest ever argument . I know you feel compelled to try and pull whatever you can outta your butt, but seriously? Smoking weed as even close to being relevant? SHEESH.

Do you distrust a report prepared by the Migration Policy Institute?

The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) is a Washington, D.C.-based think tank established in 2001 by Kathleen Newland and Demetrios G. Papademetriou. It is "an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think-tank dedicated to the study of the movement of people worldwide."[1] The Migration Policy Institute works to analyze migration policies at the local, national, and international levels.

Talk about blind liberalism......

Absolutely, 100%!

AND....there should be heavy fines for the slightest traffic infraction, even 1 MPH over the limit.

There should be no early release from any jail or prison, for any reason.

Etc. etc. etc.

Now, if any of these laws are unfair or unjust, lets go change them. The right way. If you can't get the consensus to change them procedurally, too bad.

Oh dear, I hope you remembered to bring your Depends™.

And there's this:

Do you care to provide the number of murders, by city, committed by illegal immigrants?...
Do your own homework.

But for national stats, here is what the The Economist published a few weeks ago:

"Crime has fallen even as the proportion of Americans born on foreign soil has grown, and as rates of unauthorised immigration have gone up..."

"...crunching the numbers turns up "essentially no correlation between immigrants and violent crime."

"...increases in immigration and language diversity over the decade of the 1990s predicted decreases in neighborhood homicide rates in the late '90s and up to 2006."

"...Mexican immigrants are less prone to violence than native-born Americans, whites or black, of comparable age and socio-economic status."

"Cities of concentrated immigration are some of the safest places around."

"American white guys with high-school diplomas are more likely to get tossed in the can than Guatemalan or Honduran fellows without them."

How about the drop in construction wages? linky

A bit short of that $29/hr back in 2007....

I think that is a legitimate concern.

But I was addressing those here on the board who say or infer that illegal immigrants are prone to commit crimes (other than being illegal that is). People who lie about it are dishonest, dishonorable, and we can all hope there are no young people who look to them for moral guidance.
And while the conclave of mice argued about how to bell the cat, the conclave grew smaller. Hmm.
Illegals are committing a crime, the violated our laws by entering this country illegally.

A portion of them are committing felonies and some are murdering people.

Agreed and agreed. But other than violating immigration laws, they are considerably more law abiding than us locals. If you didn't know that already, you're being played for a fool.

More law abiding when they have already violated the law by entering the country illegally?

They don't pay taxes, they don't pay for medical care, and if they are really that ready to live in America, they can't even learn the language?

As usual forky mixes his apples and oranges. He quotes crime stats for immigrants, when the discussion is about illegals committing crimes.

According to the GAO 25% of the inmates in fed prisons are illegals. 60% of the 18th Street gang in LA are illegals.

Why does forky support people breaking laws?
