Sanders and Clinton to eliminate oil drilling on public lands

For the silly folks who give Obama credit for the crude and natural gas production increases, Obama has done his best to eliminate drilling on public lands. A president has far less power to stop drilling on private lands.

These Democrats will do everything possible to stop drilling, causing gasoline and natural gas prices to increase.

Aren't low oil prices being blamed for the sluggish economy? Why does boilerman hate his country so much that he'd like to keep the economy in the doldrums? Here we have a patriotic way of increasing the economy and lifting all the boats but boilerman objects. We are faced with the worst oil glut in decades but boilerman still parrots drill baby drill.
No Billy, the economy is better than it would be otherwise because of the low energy prices.

Isn't it patriotic to drill our own oil and gas?

My best friend Pete has been promoted to VP of Project Development, North America Offshore for a $40 billion Euro oil and gas exploration company. This is the same Pete that Liberals on this site laughed about when I explained how Obama was blocking Gulf of Mexico drilling two years after the BP spill. Many Libs on this pointed out that Obama was telling us that drilling was happening again, and that my buddy was a hack. All one needs to do is look at drilling data in the Gulf and on other public lands, and you will know that Pete was telling the truth and Obama was lying.

We have invested hundreds of billions of dollars in higher cost shale oil and clean energy in the last 7 years. That investment is at risk. On the other side of the coin, low energy costs put money in the pockets of energy consumers and should offset the producer losses and stimulate the economy.

I would tariff imported oil and oil products to protect our fledgling industries. Maybe bring the end cost up to $60 a barrel....as the market price goes up, the tax goes down. Enough to give consumers a break, but give our energy producers an opportunity to further reduce their cost structure and become more competitive in the long run.

Is that protectionist? Anti-Free Trade? Yeah. Probably. The real question is how long are we going to allow the dictators in Saudi Arabia to jack us around? As soon as they break our domestic energy businesses, or the minute something goes wrong in the Middle East, we'll be paying $5.00 at the pump. It's time to really become energy independent. If we have to pay a little more at the pump to buy American so be it. Better than counting on Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Nigeria, Iran and Russia to look after the American Consumer.

I generally believe in free trade wherever possible, but I like this idea as long as the revenue from the Tariff went to pay down debt and not open checkbook spending. This will raise the price of oil worldwide so we would need to add the tax to exports as well as imports. Otherwise the US oil companies would have no incentive to sell their oil in the US.

What an awesome trip down memory lane.

Yeah, I laughed at just about everything your buddy Pete said (Like how the BP Oil spill was all Obama's fault....and how the government was intentionally blocking the oil companies from capping the leak that BP and your buddy Pete's company created....this after those same scumbag companies - like your Buddy Pete's - lied to the American people about their ability to cap such a mess.)

You and your buddy Pete have a hard time assigning responsibility to the correct people when it violates your politics. No worries. Sarah Palin does the same thing with bad behavior in her dysfunctional family so you're not alone.

Incidentally, Boilerman, you might want to keep up with current events in the oil industry. They're suffering from the exact opposite problem that you're complaining about. And that oversupply bubble is on the verge of bursting because the oil companies mismanaged their output. The good news is that will give you another opportunity to blame the government for your buddy Pete's company's mistakes.

I view the oil and gas business as different than most commodity markets, because of OPEC manipulations. That being said, history tells us that this tax never goes away if implemented. Politicians would promise it's end, but we've been snookered hundreds of times with that sort of Liberal promise.

I never said any of the things the PJ claims.

I did claim that Obama and friends sent their "experts" to help BP cap the well, and all they did was get in the way. Steven Chu, the gamma ray college professor, was going to stop the spill. Obama, Chu and friends were surprised that gamma ray technology had been used in practice on offshore oil projects for decades, and Chu had zero practical knowledge and provided zero value. In fact, if anything his presence slowed the capping of the well.

Do any of you fathers recall when your 7 year old boy wanted to help you on a home project, causing the 5 hour project to take 8 hours? This is what Obama achieved in the Gulf, and he's not nearly as cute as a 7 year old.
