Care to come with some proof for that statement? Visitation numbers in Vegas are still growing. So actually, despite of BoilerMilled's dislike of the street performers/panhandlers more people are coming to Vegas and Downtown. So you might want to keep quiet about that bet you're willing to make....

All of you are wrong.

We're talking about downtown Vegas. The constitution shouldn't apply. Strong arms of the casino bosses should go out and clean up the mess and make it the way they want it. Screw the govt. the constitution and the panty waisted rights advocates. You wouldn't have seen this (or it's time adjusted equivalent) back in the 60's or 70's.
Yes, here's the proof. Those pushing for the removal of the street freaks are the businesses on Fremont. It's bad for business.

Upholding the Constitution is paramount. We don't tread on the Constitution because some businesses don't like certain free speech.

Free speech is now only available two hours....IF you stand in your designated circle....I may try to sign up for my very own circle on my December trip.

That does organize some of the street freaks and put a cap on the number of them that can be "performing", both in terms of time frame and location.

I saw a reference to the spray paint artists. I have watched some of them create their art for hours. They are amazing! ...but they also aren't "street performers" like sponge pants square bob or the boob nuns. The spray paint artists have retail kiosk spaces that they pay for, just like those who sell jewelry or souvenirs do.

Agreed. I'm talking diaper man and the sort. The street freaks that are without talent and all about shock value...........................you know Madonna, but even less talent.

The Fremont Street Experience was ruled a public forum where constitutionally protected speech must be allowed. That was back in 2003. Not only did the City contribute 27 Million Dollars to make it a Public/Private partnership, "its openness to the public and smooth integration into downtown preserve its public forum status.”

People who don't like free speech can go gamble in one of them commie countries. We 'Mericans loves us our 1st Amendment.

Why does Boiler hate hate business and entrepreneurship? He must be going commie.

That's what you call proof? Thank God you're neither a judge nor jury. If I was a business owner at Fremont (or the Strip for that matter) I wouldn't like these street performers/panhandlers in front of my store either. BUT it doesn't automatically mean they're bad for business. The proof is in the pudding: Vegas is attracting more and more visitors so saying these streetperformers/panhandlers are "scaring people away" is simply not true (no matter who is pushing for their removal). There still are a lot of people stopping to look at them and taking pictures with them.
MarcisLurkerPoster's position here provides insite on why some folks are successful in business and some are not. Some of us can quickly learn by watching and listening, and some of us can't.

Just another post by BoilerMilled with absolutely no substance. Just a childish effort to throw an insult in my direction because he can't provide any real proof that streetperformers are hurting downtown business.

As said before, you don't know shit about me. You have no clue about how succesful I am in business. I'm just telling you your so called facts are nothing more than fiction! You probably bitch about resort fees in the same way. Reality is: most people don't like them but they're not hurting business because people are not staying away because of them. People are still coming to Vegas and those who have the money to gamble a little get them comped anyhow. I believe it's the same with streetperformers. A lot of people think they're annoying like hell but please tell me: how many of the Vegas FFA posters have decided to no longer visit Las Vegas because they hate street performers?
