The sane will prevail

You are so right about this. We're the number one porn producer of the world but have to broadcast the Superbowl with a delay to make sure no American child will see a woman's breast (remember the "Janet Jackson" incident). We have porn slappers and trucks driving through Vegas with images of naked chicks but we want to get rid off "Diaper guy" because it's obscene. A topless pool is called a European pool because woman go topless on European beaches without kids getting heart attacks and adult guys drooling all over the beach. Here's something I'm really interested in: which sane adult would take his infants to downtown Las Vegas or the Strip for a vacation? Take them to friggin Disneyland if you don't want to expose your kids to inappropriate behavior (drunks, panhandlers, porn slappers, images of naked chicks, hookers, skanks, foul mouthed cursing adult, etc.). Oh and if you can't handle "Diaper Guy" may I suggest you never take your kids to a European beach? They might get traumatized....

There was no example on your first link....................I assume that it was on page 2 since that's what your link took me to. If it's on a different page, please let me know.

The second link, also from 16 months ago, I mention Cupid once in the entire thread. I didn't bother to go to the third link

Alan, I was really hoping for a better effort. Better yet, an admission that your wrong.

You said "Two at the top end". I gave three citations. That's all it takes to prove you wrong....which was soooo easy as always.

And of course I was referring to discussions about downtown street performers. I believe in every such discussion you have mentioned 'diaper man'. That's what I mean by 'constantly'. As in every discussion about that topic. Of course, you also call all of them 'Nuts' too. You're probably wrong about that too. They're just people trying to make a buck...You know....entrepreneurs.

And be sure to catch Richard Head's much anticipated performance December 19 in his very own 6 foot free speech circle. Who knows....I might even be able to finance my whole trip from donations of free speech lovers. Or get arrested for obscenity...whichever comes first.

I agree with the sentiment of your post. All of it except "diaper guy". As a somewhat regular visitor to the Cote d'Azur I can guarantee you that if anyone were to show up on the beach looking like "diaper guy" they would be immediately removed, arrested and held for the French maximum of 5 days without being charged. It would be worse in Italy. Even Europeans have standards.

I will perform there in the spirit of Lenny Bruce...pushing the boundaries of Free Speech...dressed in my Giant inflatable Penis Costume. My Fremont Street Character will be known as Richard Head. At least that's the plan.

Please post pictures!

Boiler must be confused. Alanleroy first accuses Boiler of constantly using the term "Diaper Guy", yet his examples include 1.5 year old quotes when Boiler used the term "Cupid". Is it Diaper Guy or Cupid?

Since I use the term Diaper Guy or Cupid constantly, why not give us a few more contemporary examples?

I'm glad we actually agree on something but you are wrong when talking about how the French or Italians would deal with "Diaper Guy on the beach". This is not how France nor Italy would handle Diaper Guy. He might get removed, he might even go to jail but he will be out within 12 to 24 hours and get fined at most. European laws are different than ours, they handle this freedom of speech thing differently.

Yes, freedom of speech is different there. Political speech and social expression are considered two completely different subjects.

As a frequent participant of Med regattas and their drunken party counterparts I do have some experience extraditing crew members from French, Italian and Spanish jails. No one gets out of a French jail in less than 48 hours. Offenses can be hard to define, usually at the discretion of the arresting officer or official, not always the actual law.
For the particularly heinous crime of mooning a group of police officers in St. Tropez you will be held two days and not let go till three hours before your flight leaves. If Prince Felipe cannot (or will not) get one of his own citizens out of jail for such a minor offense it shows you how serious they are about these things. You don't see the kind of things in most areas of Europe that you do on Fremont street (or Hollywood, or NY Times Square) for a reason.

In conclusion, Alanleroy found two examples of Boiler using the term Diaper Guy, and one using the term Cupid..........which was never part of his original claim. In addition, he had to got back 1.5 years to find two examples of Boiler constantly using the word Diaper Man.

Interesting. I'll let the readers decide.

Hate to correct you again, but several European countries have special laws that apply during certain events. There's something that's called "speed justice" (lack of a better translation) which is being used at special events with large crowds (for example big soccer matches or events celebrating national holidays). So what you are saying here is not common practice in everyday life. It really isn't. I've seen worse things in Spanish, French, Greek and Italian tourist destinations than on Fremont street. Take my word for it, I spend 4 months a year in Europe, my entire family lives in Europe and I was born in Europe.
