I'd rather have a stroke than live in West Virginia.

DonDiego cannot speak for an entire State, but he supposes if the choices are:
i. forkush has a stroke
ii. forkush lives in West Virginia
. . . many of the residents would concur with forkushV's preference...
I wouldn't be surprised.

According to Gallup, more than any other state many West Virginians dislike their daily lives, dislike where they live, have little sense of community, have fewer loving and supportive relationships, have low energy and bad health, and feel unsafe.

You know the type: self-proclaimed "victims." They're usually the type to wish ill on those fortunate not to be their neighbors.
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

Sounds like they would be just you kind of people being "victims". Your party exploits victims every chance you get.

Unfortunately forkushV did not provide a reference, . . . so poor old DonDiego employed his Googler and found a Gallup Survey from 2014.

To the question "Is your State one of the best?":
36% of West Virginians said YES.
33% of Nevadans said YES.
Nationally 46% said YES about their State of Residence.

To the question "Would you like to remain in your State?"
72% of West Virginians said YES.
55% of Nevadans said YES.
Nationally 65% said YES about their State of Residence.

To the question "Are you satisfied with the City or Area?"
81% of West Virginians said YES.
81% of Nevadans said YES.
Nationally 83% said YES about their State of Residence.

Ref: Gallup

It would seem more West Virginians have a higher opinion of their State than Nevadans have of theirs.
And after all isn't that what really matters?

Oh, . . . just for the record nothing DonDiego has written should be taken as an indicator that he resides in The Mountaineer State. Maybe he does; maybe he doesn't. He has found it's possible to win some money in the State's casinos, however.

Now this I believe, I had a feeling forkys was BS to begin with. West Virginians are extremely proud and would never change where they live.

I spent my summers and college years enjoying the state, fishing, swimming, whatever came along (I wasn't a hunter). There were many saturdays hanging out in places such as this, the Buckhannon river in the town of Arden, probably the most beautiful, coolest place I've ever hung out. There were party rocks and family rocks to hang out on and swim, better than any day at the beach or any other river I've seen.

I did at the very top of this page. Again, it is Gallup's State of American Well-Being. And more than any other state many West Virginians dislike their daily lives, dislike where they live, have little sense of community, have fewer loving and supportive relationships, have low energy and bad health, and feel unsafe.

For some reason, lots of other red states are in the same boat.

Once again when forky is losing a debate (this time it is the failure of obamacare), forky changes the subject

DonDiego suggests a closer look at the demographics of the individuals responding to the poll questions might be in order before one suggests it is a Red State/Blue State issue.
F'rinstance, there may well be unhappy Republicans who've seen their coal mining jobs wiped out in West Virginia and unhappy Democrats who've lived in poverty in Mississippi for generations and vice versa.
