Seeking update on Uber vs. cabbie discussion

Now that Uber has been in vegas for a few months I was wondering how good is the service.

1.How much is a Uber ride from Airport to center strip (like Ballys, Cosmo ?

2.Would you use Uber , Lyft or a cab ?

3. have there been any major issues with using Uber ?

I was thinking of using them from Airport to Wynn and Wynn back to airport - are there plenty of rides available ?

just seeking an update.

Also, anyone used lyft.
I used Lyft on my last trip in January. Both times the cars were spotless and the drivers polite. My ride from Gold Coast to Harrahs was a little over $10, the last 3 times in a cab it was over 15.00, My ride Downtown was also reasonable. I used the coupon code from the net and for 2 rides my our of pocket cost was under $2. I liked it because I got a text letting me know ,what the driver looked liked, the make and color of the car he was driving and approximate wait time.

My next trip in September I will try Uber.
Uber is the devil. Put it behind ye and never look back.

Try $146 from O'hare to Tinley Park

Taxi ride was $90

$56 overcharged

No Uber for me

During peak times Uber & Lyft can and will charge more for fares. However they do warn you ahead of time. On Easter Sunday for instance I needed to go from home to LAX airport about 8 miles. The app on Uber warned me that that day was a high demand day and the rate was 2x's the normal rate. I then tried Lyft and they had a 1.5x's the normal rate so I chose Lyft. The total fare ended up being $25 which was the same as if I had taken a cab. Normally Uber & Lyft costs about $13 - $16. If Uber & Lyft says 3x's the rate I would then take a cab. Other than that I would take Uber & Lyft any time over a cab.
Another factor with Uber & Lyft is the size of the vehicle you request. I did not notice one day and requested the "Lux" instead of Uber X, and my ride $22.00 ride was over $50.00. My mistake, and fat fingers.

Definitely much better than taxi's, and at about 40%+ savings over taxi meter rate. And, cleaner cars, friendlier drivers, and no tip expected!

Uber is fine. Yes, don't request Uber "X" (A big SUV) unless you have a crew of 4 or more.
It's less than a cab and it's on your cell phone.
First timers get a discount.
I have been "long-way around"2 of 4 times in a Las Vegas cabbage.
I paid $20 to go downtown from the airport mid-week.$25 back on a Friday.
The Uber cars don't have vinyl-covered back seats and there is usually a free bottle of water back there for you.
I'm all for Uber.

Want to be a cheese ball?
Take a free shuttle from down town to Sam's Town and go from there.
Weekend rates and convention times can KILL the Uber rates.
Caveat emptor.
Good point Road Trip. I'm always self-conscious that I'll mistakenly order the higher priced car and end up with sticker shock, hasn't happened yet but that's one of my fears when I use them (lol).
Very recently, I had a driver who actually frightened me, made me fear for my life. Talking faster than the speed limit, phone and navigation in one hand with eyes on the navigation, abrupt lane changes, no signal used, narrowly missed a pedestrian, and well deserving of a reckless driving citation. The driver did not, IMHO, belong behind the wheel of anything larger than a Fisher Price tricycle.

To say I was unnerved is an understatement. Fortunately, it was a short trip or I would have had her pull over and gotten another car! I arrived unharmed, and rated the driver with a 1 of 5. (If you rate 3 or less, the system will never give you that driver again.) I also sent an email to CS. CS wrote back, and gave me free ride credit +, yada yada. (Surprise)

Of course, since this was an Uber ride, Uber gets the "bad" rep in this narrative. However, the same sort of dangerous drivers are behind the wheel of Taxi's, Limo's, other ride share services, etc. To judge a company based on the results of one or two bad drivers is unfair.

I use Uber a Lyft frequently. Am done with taxi's for the most part. Far as I an concerned, they are definitely worth the savings.

Those bad apples may be anywhere.

Users background checks are a joke. They don't even fingerprint their applicants.
In theory, it's a good idea, but I believe they have expanded too fast.
