As for the latest update, Shar has found a Kaiser rehab center just two blocks from where she is staying, and another one 2 miles away. But things have taken a U-turn as far as rehab goes.
She has a court date in Barstow for the DUI charges on Friday the 18th. She has decided that maybe she should get those charges out of the way instead of putting it off until later. After to speaking to some of my attorney friends, they seem to feel she'll be able to beat this case with the help of the public Defender. After all, the police didn't pull her over, and she was out of the car when they arrived. Therefore, they only have the word of the "good samaritan" who probably won't show up in court to testify. And after all, his won't have any "expert" witness testimony if he does show up in court. His would only be "hearsay" testimony. As I had mentioned before, she blew 0.0% on the breathalyzer. The judge never even mentioned what "blew"...or who for that matter. Figured I'd get the wisecrack in before someone else did. So now it comes down to her blood test. The only thing that should show up is her prescription meds. She swears that is the only thing that is possible to show up on her blood test. Without the Sheriff or CHP seeing her swerve, they really don't have a case. It really was only a case of her being tired making the round trip to Vegas and back. So she wants to get this off the table and settled before she goes into rehab.
I know you're going to say that she's just trying to put it off, and while that might be true, I think she's going to make a real effort of making it this time.
Now on the home front, Faye isn't doing too well. She has swelling all over her body. It's so bad, that she is "leaking" fluid from her arms and legs. Her rash is horrible and I can't understand why anyone can't help her. It's very frustrating to see her in such pain and not be able to do anything about it except take some pills for the pain. I have to lift her into a porta-potty that I bought for her, but now I can hardly lift her because of the excess water on her body. Her pee is almost black and we worried about that, and to confirm there is a problem, her doctor's office called the other day to say her blood tests aren't looking good. Well, today they called back and said she should get to the emergency room as it looks like her kidneys are shutting down. I'm taking her in tomorrow real early like 5 am so there isn't any wait in the emergency room. Right now, I'm trying to get her back in the walker so she can do some things like wash her hair and get dressed for the hospital tomorrow. She begged her doctor to put her in the hospital when we were there last week for our checkups. But the doctor didn't think she needed to go in. This was again a "new" doctor that had taken over for the previous one that moved on.
She thinks that this will be her last Thanksgiving with her family, and she wants to make it to Vegas to see them and spend quality time with them. But she has been claiming that for 3 years. But I feel this time she might be right. I've never seen her this bad, and when she isn't looking, I cry and pray for her to get better. You can say what you want about Sharlene and I, but Faye and I go back a lot of years, and I still have strong feelings for her no matter what you think. It just disturbs me that these doctors can't do any thing for her. If you ever saw her body rash, you'd think she was from another planet. I can barely hold her to pick her up as she bruises so easily, and there is hardly any place to grab on to her to lift her without her being in pain.
I'm going to give it one more try right now, and we already called the neighbor to help if I can't do it alone. After that, it's a 911 call to help out! I'll let you know what happens shortly!
