Should the Free-For-All Be Free?

Seeing the "Bring Back the Boomers"" article and how Anthony Curtis is cutting staff and seeing falling profits, one has to wonder if the Free-For-All Forums really should be "free". I am not telling AC how to run his business, but it seems to me that the cost of a free-for-all forum far outweighs the benefits. The paying members are put down while the free-loaders rule. That does not sound like a good business model to me......I'm just sayin'
Instead of charging people for the FFA, Anthony should have a $250 prize for the top monthly FFA trip report as voted on by the LVA fora. That would inspire more Vegas reporting, attract new visitors interested in Vegas, and give the FFA something new to argue about. It would be like Dancing with the Stars...without the Dancing or the Stars.

You know your weird-hat-wearing Vegas visits would win everytime. Greedy bastard!

Are you for real, dude?? Let's check-in with a random Hicktown, Louisiana household for the verdict...

Earl: Hey Ethel! Put ya teeth in for a second and come here.

Ethel: WTF do you want?

Earl: I was surfin' around on de world wide internets here, and found dis site for cheapskates like us. Check out de cool deals and coupons here for dat dere Vegas trip we're takin'.

Ethel: You moron Earl. Dat dere's de website where ya pay ya hard earned money, get some great deals, but den have to endure an eternity of being put down by da little freeloader area of the site. It's the devil, I tell ya.

Earl: Thank God for people like you, Ethel! Let's go watch some NASCAR instead.

Bottom line...unless your a snake worshiper from the Bible Belt, I don't think the free for all is much of a deciding factor either way.

Nessie - I am from the Bible belt or Weeeziana as much as you are from Endor.

I think you answered my question though. Anthony obviously doesn't get a penny from you. On the other hand have, I been buying subscritions for my wife and I for 5 years running, plus ordering books and other materials of interest from the Huntington Press.

Are YOU really worth the hassle?

He is not worth the hassle and most likely neither is this free side. Maybe it would be different if you could buy the book and not be online but I am not sure if that is an option? It may have been good having this at one point but business change and evolve. The question the LVA staff would have to ask in a meeting ... "how much business will we lose if we get rid of the free side?"

Business wise it is a very good point.
How do you know how much income the Free-for-all generates?
It's all about the ads.
How you know is you look at any stats that you have. If you don't have any stats then you simply don't know. So if it is just all about the ads then it is pretty simple...just look at the stats.
I was asking how you know how much LVA is making or losing of the F-f-a.
I know how stats work.
I can't speak for the OP but I never stated I did know how much they made in my comment. This is why when you read my post you will see that I simply stated this is a question they would have to ask themselves.
