Should Southern Border Security be improved? (POL)

In light of the incidents in the last week where illegal immigrants committed murders after being deported four or more times for committing felonies in the US, do you think the US needs to concentrate on securing the Southern border? Or is that just nonsense conservative wacko / racist thinking?

Laredo Texas

San Francisco
DonDiego votes: "Yes".

Mr. Francisco Sanchez, the murderer of the young woman on the San Francisco pier, has stated from his jail cell that "he chose the City for its sanctuary policies - that is, he knew San Francisco was a good place to avoid deportation."

Hmm, . . .it seems that bad policies have bad consequences. Most unfortunate for Ms. Kate Steinle, 32, who was shot dead while walking the pier with her father by Mr. Sanchez.
I vote "yes"
I'm not sure whether the border needs to be secured, or whether immigration laws should be enforced. I am sure that an 'amnesty' on the existing laws won't work. This country has always welcomed visitors, and welcomed those that wanted to stay. I think it's a small price for "immigrants" to pay to be expected to conform to our laws, learn our way of life, and be granted citizenship. It's also a pretty small price to pay for those who are already citizens to conform to the laws, because it just makes life easier for everybody, and that promoting blatant or covert violation of the law, or flagrantly violating the law will not improve life for folks. The cultural drift from 'hard work to improve your life' to 'entitled to that' speaks for itself.

Just a touch of self discipline has, can and will go a long way.

A bill was passed by the Senate that would make the border control population bigger than the FBI...and also build more fences.
Senate Bill

The House SPeaker says he agrees with the bill but cant bring himself to put it on the House floor for a vote because ...well...something about him "not trusting" the president..or something. I wont try to paraphrase - I dont speak moron.
Boehner ignores immigration because he doesn't like Obama

I guess "not liking someone" is a valid excuse to not do your job. Maybe I'll try that at work next week. There's a guy down the hall that rubs me the wrong way...I'll ask my boss if I can take the week off.

Pearlguy is pleased that chafraho has joined in various discussions. He / she(?) seems to have a logical head on his/her shoulders. Welcome.
I vote "Yes" also. Tighter border security would have helped to prevent these convicted fellons from returning to America after being deported. But instead, we get people complaining the fences in place are "too high" and they pose danger to Illegal Immigrants trying to illegally cross the border

Arizona Fence too high?
Yes,maybe even taller and electrify it.
We have two problems regarding border security. First, folks from Central America pour across our border in search of work. Eliminate their ability for those people to gain employment, and that problem is solved. Secondly, we have a much smaller number of bad guys crossing the border to become criminals, or worse yet to kill us on behalf of the Islamic hatred of Americans. To stop them from entering we need a fence security program utilizing lethal force.

Once 100% of those attempting to cross the border die, zero people will attempt the jump. Far fewer will die under this strict plan than with our current lack of enforcement.

Of course somewhere around 40-50% of the illegal immigrants in this country did not jump the border. They came here legally and overstayed their visa. I guess the border patrol will have to hunt them down and kill them to discourage that practice.

The two murderers in question certainly crossed the border illegally - at least 9 times after being deported.

Everyone is looking to fault "Sanctuary cities", enforcement of current laws, and "immigration policy", but they are irrelevant unless the border is secure from criminals deported from America who continually re-enter the country though an insecure border.
