Should Southern Border Security be improved? (POL)

As I stated, for those here illegally, simply take away their ability to work. They will leave.

I'm more in favor of some good old colonialism and making Mexico a better place such that people would rather stay there than come here. It's a win-win.

Victor Ramirez an illegal on probation was recently arrested for murdering a 64 year old woman. Why was an illegal on probation not deported?

The answer to DonDiego's "inclusive question" is simple. An immigration bill passed the US Senate that addresses almost all of the Reublicans concerns about border security. And an overwhelming majority of people in both parties of the House agree....but Speaker Boehner wont bring the bill to the floor of the house because he "doesn't trust Obama".

Here are some interesting facts for those who choose to accept pictures, and not to investigate and read:
The picture which pjstroh presents represents what the Federal Government defines as "removals", i.e.: compulsory and confirmed movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the United States based on an order of removal.
But there is another category of those who are apprehended and moved out of the United States without an order of removal, termed "returns".

These separate figures can be found on page 103 of the Department of Homeland Security 2013 Yearbook of Immigration Statistics referenced in pjstroh's picture, above. If one chooses to investigate the DHS kindly shows data from 1892 through 2013.

When one combines the two categories of those removed from the territory of the United States a different picture appears:

The reality, . . . total deportations peaked in 2000, . . . and the decline has continued through the Bush and Obama Administrations.

The number of "removals" has increased slightly from 359,795 in 2008 (GWBush's last year) to 438,421 in 2013.
But the number of "returns" has declined from 811,263 in 2008 to only 178,371 in 2013.
[n.b. the picture above only shows deportations through 2012; the numbers come from the DHS Yearbook.]

So the total of removals and returns has fallen from 1.2-million in 2008 to 617,000 in 2013, . . . almost halved by The Obama.

Excellent information DonDiego. If a person only knew the estimated number of illegals entering the country yearly and how many are already here, he could then estimate how long it would take to deport all of them.

If people had to prove legal residency in order to get jobs, education, housing & social benefits the illegals would self deport.
