Mine are probably not the rare ones.
It is any hassle to just cash them in at the casinos?

You can always cash them in for $10 at a casino, but they are worth just about double that. If you have a bunch, you are really leaving a good bit of money at the table.

I'm glad you posted this pjstroh. I have many of these things and I need to organize my collection. Several years ago, my buddy would play this game in various casinos and I would always buy the first one that he won. I even have one from the airport. A few months ago, I decided to use my free play at the Four Queens in a less than intelligent fashion by obtaining every one that they had in the game display. I cashed in the ones that I had already obtained. I might have that same one you listed.
APMEX

The website above buys silver strikes for $20.66 each or sells it for $25.42 each. Note that the website says that when it buys the silver strikes from you that it is "subject to certain minimums." They may want bulk purchases which could run into the 100's or even 1000's, I would call them and ask for clarification.

Yikes. Do not cash in your strikes at the casino unless you also like to exchange $20 bills for $10 bills. In effect you are losing $10 or more.

By the way, slapinfunk and I are checking our pocket change for old silver coins (that means anything before 1965). We got a 1964 quarter in change at a drive through and that quarter is now worth about $6.75.

And you might want to hold on to your nickels. the metal content of nickels is now worth about 7 and a half cents. And copper pennies minted before 1982 have about 3 cents of copper in them. Here's a good website to look at to get info on values of coins in circulation: www.coinflation.com

It is ILLEGAL to melt down US coins with a face value less than a quarter. I was shocked when someone bought this up on another forum but it is indeed a Federal Law.

Almost all the so-called S.S. the Four Queens offers are clad and worth only the $10 the cashier will give you.
No one said anything about MELTING the coins. But would you willingly spend a nickel if you knew that it was really wroth 7.5-cents? Would you willing spend a penny that you knew to be worth 3-cents?

Its only worth one cent. Its metal content value is meaningless as you can't legally melt it, and it would cost more to ship it outside the country so you could melt it. So your choice is either spend it today, save it and spend it down the road when it will still be worth one cent or hold it in the hope that the law will be changed. As the government has a vested interest in seeing that its coins are not melted down, the odds are you'll end up with a coin worth one cent, but whose buying power has decreased due to the inevitible inflation.

Old strikes are still worth more than $10 that you would get at a casino. Like Bill said, the newer ones are clad and are only worth $10 right now. I think the 4queens, sams town and palms are one of the few casinos that have strike machines. I tried to look for the pHo one the other week and couldn't find one and when I asked nobody knew what I was talking about. The 4queens have some that are encased in red plastic and they are worth a little more since they are limited and probably have more silver content.

Candy, if you want to get rid of some of your older strikes, you can list them here, I'm sure you can get at least $10 if not $12 or more for each strike from some of the members. I might buy some if you have some nice ones. PM me with your list and I can see how many I would buy.

Maybe we should start up a thread on buying, selling and trading silver strikes. I have a few duplicates and so would trade some of them for others.
