Silverton- Day 7

Starting the 7th day I woke up at 7:30 and would wait until 8 am to call sheltie lover to see if they could make breakfast. I hope I wasn't going to wake them up. Patty answered the phone and we agreed to meet at the Sundance Grill in the Silverton at 9 am.

It's always "funny" to meet new people. But meeting Patty and her husband "Chick" was very easy. That's the way it is with "back east" people. Since we were both from Joisey...one current and one former..after 5 minutes you feel like you've known each other for years. We got seated right away and I recommended the steak and eggs. Chick and I got the steak and sheltie got sausage and eggs. It was great that there were non of those awkward moments that usually occur when you meet new people. We were jabbering away from the moment we sat down util the time that we parted. We all took turns telling jokes, and our current experiences in Vegas.

When we left the Sundance, we headed for the center bar except Chick as he opted to play some slot machines while Patty and I took a seat a the bar to play some VP. Patty was going to try and take my jackpot away and chose $1 BP where the progressive jackpot now stood at about $5350. We were playing and just chit chattin away about this that and the other thing when sheltie got dealt 3 Aces. When she hit the deal button the elusive 4th Ace appeared. Unfortunately, she only received a little over $400 because someone had hit the four Aces for around $440 on the machine to our left before we got to the bar, and they cashed out and left the 4 Aces on the machine. But sheltie was thrilled to death as it was her biggest score for the trip. We stopped playing and she took pictures of the 4 Aces and then of the $500 TITO that she cashed out. YAHOO!!!! Nice hit sheltie.

Since she drinks Bloody Mary's, I had the bartender make her one with Faye's Zing Zang mix. She loved it. Before they left I brought her one of the bottles of Zing Zang that they leave in our room, to take home with her. During one of our conversations, she mentioned that Rizzo and I would get along great ssince we were both so much alike. Wh knows, maybe one day.

As they were leaving, I told them that maybe we could meet again for either the buffet at night or breakfast again tomorrow. I told her that I would call later in the day to let her know about the buffet for that night. Turns out that couldn't work out becasue the GF had her whole family coming to dinner that night.

I went back up to the room to check on the other half. I brought her up a container of milk, a bowl and some sugar. I guess she was going to have cereal for breakfast that morning. Since she was sound asleep, I left the bowl and sppon near her bed and put the mild in the fridge. I then headed back downstairs for a "serious" session of video poker.

I picked a machine near the left side of the bar that had paid me off well in the past. And today would be no different...at least in the early sessions of the day. With hitting multiple 4 OAK's and even another SF, I would wind up cashing out $1200 in TITO"s more than I started with.

Have to lie down a few minutes as I got to bed later than 2:30 am, and need a little rest before going downstairs to watch the Kentucky Derby. Las t year I made a nice score and I believe I collected over $700 for that race. So, I'll be back later.
Day 7 part 2

I came upstairs for a rest as we had plenty of time to meet her family for the Friday buffet. We finally got ready at 6:45 and made our way downstairs. She hadn't played in almost two days and her mouth was watering for a Zing Zang Bloody Maria.

We got two seats at the far right side of the bar, and I was amazed at how crowded the bar was that night. They were having a concert, but I didn't know who was performing and I didn't care either. I had heard the front desk remark that they were sold out for the next two nights, Friday and Saturday. Sheltie had already told me that the strip was booming like the old days. Seems like the "Perfect Storm" had finally hit Vegas.

After all, San Gennarro started at the Silverton on May 4th, Cinco De Mayo was May 5th, the concert was May 6th the Kentucky Derby was May 7th, and the big fight was also on May 7th, and to top it all off, Mother's Day would be on Sunday May 8th. WHEW!!!! Bet that hasn't happened in a long time.

Well we played at the bar until her family showed up, losing about $425. We had a nice dinner at the buffet, and after finishing off dessert, I left them behind to find two seats at the bar. The rest of the family would meet me there after they finished their dessert and finished gossiping.

When I got back to the bar, I was surprised to find our "good" machines still available. I told the bartender to hold those two seat while I got some things from upstairs. Came back down to the bar and they hadn't left the buffet yet. So I inserted my card and my money into the machine, and hoped that this machine would produce the same results it had produced over the last two days. I was ready to get back that $425 we had lost earlier. But it started off slow, and I was depositing a 2nd hundred into the machine when they arrived back from the buffet.

We played for a while with mixed results, but still in a downward slide. Just seemed like hundred after hundred kept being deposited with hardly any withdrawals. Really didn't have many TITO's that were cashed out. Worst part was, the concert had let out and there were no seats at the bar to move to for a change of luck. That wouldn't happen for another hour. I went to the ATM to pull out $700 rather than go upstairs to the safe.

Finally the right side of the bar opened up, and I found us two seats. She was getting tired and her son and GF joined us at the bar. They would take her upstairs if I decided to keep playing. The $700 didn't last long either, and I made the BIG mistake of going back upstairs to get another $1000. When I got back downstairs she opted to play one last hundred and the was definitely going to go upstairs with or without me. I decided to keep playing even though it was well past midnight. I finally caught 4 tens but nothing else. Since the bar had emptied out, I moved back to the far left machines. I hit another 4 OAK after my move, but when I looked up and saw the graveyard bartender on shift, I knew it was and change left in my pocket. time to go upstairs. I counted my money and had $700 left in my pocket. The damage was done to the tune of a $2000 loss. Almost all my profits were gone, but I was still up $200 for the Silverton part of the trip. I had told sheltie we could have breakfast again and we agreed to meet at 9:30. I called up the operator for a 9 am wake up. Jumped into bed and sleep copuldn't come fast enough. It was now 2:45 am.
Sorry not many 4OAKs! Still sounds like a fun time!
Don't we all hate those times when we can't seem to get a little win. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you and Faye.

We really did have a great time with you. I can't see how no one would get along with you. Between you and Chick with the jokes...Too funny. Thanks again ... BTW Guess what I'm having now...A Bloody Mary with Zing Zang. YUM...Really good. Thanks again!

Still waiting for that Royal... Tell your sweetie we said hi!
