Thanks. Do they still have that bar with the giant fish tank?

Mermaid Lounge is still open. Best looking cocktail servers in Vegas uniforms are very sexy.
I haven't stayed at Silverton in a few years. Not that I don't like it, it's just that my home casino has a lot to do with where my Vegas friends frequent. At this point it's the M, but I compromise and stay at South Point since they like it too. I digress.

I'll address your questions as best I can.

1 - I like the first floor on the pool side fairly close to the casino entrance. Easy access to the casino and
the north exit to self park. I found self park quicker than valet, but that may have changed by now.
2 - Yes. I have never seen it otherwise.
3 - I have had the dinner buffet there once, but not the seafood buffet. I just don't do buffets.
4 - I find it to be good, but like most, I only had the homoginized version not real Mexican.
5 - Self used to be quicker, but after all the renovations valet may be the way to go.
6 - I would stick to breakfast, lunch or dinner! I've many meals there including a few taken back to the
room and I've never been disappointed. If you have an appetite, try the chicken fried steak. It's hu-
mongous.
7 - I never had to wait for a room, although I usually checked in around 2 or 3.
8 - Never had the fish and chips, but I used to have a shrimp appetizer I liked.
9 - I play very few slots, so I'm no help there.
10-Head east out of Silverton on Blue Diamond and proceed to LV Blvd (about 3/4 of a mile). Take a left
on LV Blvd and go north about a mile to Warm Springs. Take a right there and the next light you come
to is Gillespie. Go left on Gillespie and there it is.

I think you'll like Silverton. The Orleans is getting a little frayed around the edges and needs a little TLC. It was my home for a few years even though my friends wouldn't go there. It needs a little work though. At Silverton, I would recommend trying Twin Creeks Steakhouse. You're also 5 minutes away from the Bootlegger restaurant which serves decent Italian and is a Vegas institution. It's at the south end of the outlet mall on LV Blvd. At any rate, have a great time.

Good Luck!

Does the Silverton still have a free shuttle that runs from Ceasar's for
everyone, or is it just for hotel guests?
The hotel site says for hotel guests only, but the LVA transportation site says it is for everyone!
Would take the shuttle from Ceasar's if possible, otherwise, does anybody know what is the easiest way to get there from the Strip?

Thanks everyone!
Ric, your answers to my questions are very helpful. I agree that the Orleans needs some TLC but I still really like how it has the theme (I love the crayfish on top of the bar and the cool hanging Mardi Gras heads), huge casino, large rooms and it isn't pretentious.

Jennifer

Any other helpful hints about the Silverton?

Not sure anything about the Silverton from a tourist perspective except that it is a nice, safe, clean place. I have never been in their rooms.

As for locals, we used to go there from time to time, but they run promos and then do not adequately staff/organize them so we stopped going over for any mailers. We have not spent any time in there at all except once for dinner at the mexican and once for a walk through since all the new remodeling. We live far enough away that if we go there and then do not get to use the promo, it was a waste of our time and expense.
I think your questions covered most of what you would want to know. Just a couple of other observations.
If you use the pool, it's not usually busy, so it's very comfortable. It's not Mandalay Bay, but it's still wet.
The Sundance is the go to restaurant. It'll do any time of the day.
Mermaids is nice to relax in during the afternoon. Same for the Shady Grove lounge.
It's easy to navigate. From end to end is maybe five minutes.
Be sure to try Twin Creeks.
The bedding is comfortable. Some say the bathrooms are small, but I'm not sure how much room they must need. One suggestion though. Like so many rooms in Vegas, it's dark. Pick up a few 75 watt bulbs to brighten things up.
Whether it interests you or not, take a walk through Bass Pro Shops. It's pretty amazing.
Enjoy yourself.

Good Luck!

I've stayed at Silverton several times, once in a Bass Pro suite but the rest in regular rooms. I think they had a safe on the closet shelf that was free. But, I've stayed in sooooo many LV hotels it all becomes a blur w/the little details. I have never checked w/the cage on safe deposit boxes. If you call the main #, they should be able to tell you. It's a nice place to stay as long as you're not looking for FP VP below $1 level; has lots of the newest, and old favorites, slots. I stay there about once per year as I like to mix up my comp stays. If you're a coffee drinker, the CW's serve Starbucks; which is a nice change from the stuff they used to serve. I've been pretty lucky there cruising the penny slots. The other cool thing is the Mi Casa bar comps some pretty good drinks if you play the VP; plus, you can order food at the bar. Nice option if the restaurant is busy, which it frequently is. Bring a baggie if you go to the buffet, they have yummy, wrapped almond cookies at the asian station which come in handy for late night munchies. But, if you forget, they have probably the most reasonably priced mini bars of any hotel I've stayed at and are just down the street from a Target if you need provisions. Oh, they also have a Johnny Rockets now that has GREAT shakes! Ok, hope my manic rambling is a little helpful; have a great trip!!!
Once again, thanks for all the great advice!
If any of you have any questions about Honolulu feel free to ask!
Aloha,
Jennifer
