site? off topic

I'm considering the purchase of a newer car. I would like to know in advance what my credit scores are,

Any reccomendations from the learned members of this board as to the best web site to access all three credit reporting agencies credit scores would be appreciated.

You only get one free. If you want all 3 you have to pay. Or go to Experian.com and sign up for the service, get your free reports and cancel your membership.
Your credit rating is important, but it won't translate to how much car and at what interest rate you qualify.

May I suggest you simply go get prequalified with your bank so you have the upper hand when you visit dealerships? Or better yet, use an auto broker. I haven't bought a car directly from a dealer in 20 years.

Not true:

From www.annualcreditreports.com

You are entitled to receive one free credit report every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies through the Central Source. It is entirely your choice whether you order all three credit reports at the same time or order one now and others later. The advantage of ordering all three at the same time is that you can compare them. (However, you will not be eligible for another free credit report from the Central Source for 12 months.) On the other hand, the advantage of ordering one now and others later (for example, one credit report every four months) is that you can keep track of any changes or new information that may appear on your credit report. Remember, you are entitled to receive one free credit report through the Central Source every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion – so if you order from only one company today you can still order from the other two companies at a later date.

In addition to consumers who are eligible for a free credit report through the Annual Credit Report Request Service; consumers in some states are eligible for a free credit report under state law. The following states have laws that make free credit reports available to consumers: Colorado, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Vermont.

Thanks for the correction.
Er, you get the reports but the actual scores are a paying thing.

myfico.com will get you a FICO score rather than a full credit report but it costs. Last time I checked it was like $20 per score, but if you get one, it's likely to be similar to the other two.

I agree with mush. Being able to write a check right then and there gives you a much better hand to play with. That way make an offer on a car, tell they can take it or leave it. I've bought our last several cars that way(tho i've been able to pay for them,i hate car payments) and its always worked. I've had guys say no ,my manager didn't go for it.Fine, head towards my car and they've chased me down and say OK.

They have a special going on experian where you pay $1.00 for your experian only credit score but to get all 3 it's $30 bucks! You can get the experian for $1.00 and cancel your membership within 9 days or you will get charged 14.95 a month until you cancel!
