slot machines

Hey everyone I work with a guy that says the slot lady at a vegas casino told him the best time to play slot machines etc. is the middle of the month because the casino manually resets each machine at the end of the month. Does anyone out there no if its true or not. i'm saying not but would really like to know
yeah, I would take that with a ginormous grain of salt. I am sure veryone has anecdotal evidence proving that x day of the month is the day the slots are loosest. I know that my largest slot (not VP) jackpot of $5000 was won early in the month. around the 5th or so.

I have never heard of anyone having 'slot lady' as their job title

I have heard that they also pay better on the day we turn the clocks back. The machines have forgotten that they have already paid that hour, so they do it again.
That's not true at all as it would be illegal. The only type of reset that can be done to a machine is when doing a game change out and the game and reel chips are changed. Even after that is done they leave them roped off for a few hours. The reasons for this vary but when a new game is up for review by Nevada gaming the manufacterers put the top awards at the begining of the random number genorater (RNG) so they can verify the top awards can be won. This helps speed the approval process but also means if they turn on the machine for the first time and have you start playing that there is a good chance you will hit one of the top awards.

I wrote a reply about a year ago with the old S+ slots that if they were unplugged or lost power the computer would "reset" back to the first "root" number on thier list. The program for the RNG runs the same for slots, poker, and keno.

Hope this helps.
