Yesterday was the wife and i's 36th wedding anniversary. After sending three dozen red roses to her at her office ( yes, creating great jealousy among her fellow workers, all women ). I took her to Binion's Rest. at the new Horseshoe Casino here in Cincinnati. This is the last of their four restaurants for us to have eaten at. The others are Marquaritaville's, Bobby Flay's Burger Palace and The Spread Buffet. They also have a small Italian deli. All are very nice. Bobby's burger are to die for!
So, we sat at the nicely appointed, small bar for a drink before dinner, the wife had a nice merlot ( $11 ) and i had a Morgan and seven ( $8.50 ), quite tasty.
Shortly thereafter the waiter came and seated at our table. The room is very nicely appointed. All medium colored woods and leathers with nice paintings and mirrors for effect. The back wall is all windows and as the sun went down the drapes were opened to a lovely view of the Hamilton County Detention Center!
LOL That's the humor part. What a shame. But it certainly didn't ruin the evening. It's easy enough to ignore.
The wife had a New York Strip and i chowed down on a delicious 20 ounce Porterhouse cooked to perfection. Couple that with a huge baked potato and some out of this world wild mushrooms and you have a really great meal. The made from scratch Napaleon for dessert was a superb finisher too.
The service is top rate. From the person that greets you at the door, to the servers, to the person that fills your water glass, to the person that whisks away your dishes, it couldn't possibly be any better. I would very much reccomend a dinner at Binion's Cincinnati if you are ever in town.
Oh almost forgot. Three drinks for me, two for the wife, dinner and dessert for two, comped on my TR card...........$178.50. $40 gratuity for the great service, a bargain for sure.
I think i know where i'm taking the granddaughter for her big number 13 birthday!
