The Strat is ok but you can often get as good a deal at the LVH - rooms there are much better. I hear that the Trop is good since the reno and that prices are really competitive.

OK, this is about impressing the GF, right? Albeit she is easily impressed I think there are better options in that price range.
I'm not really knocking the Strat. We eat at the Top of the World almost every trip and then usually stay awhile to play VP and sometimes the tables. I have never gotten the feeling of the casino being "nice" definately not "up-scale", perhaps thats because we are the only ones there in a jacket and evening dress (the wife is in the evening dress, not me).

If you want to impress the girlfriend you may want to stay at a Caesar's property and they have no resort fees. I didnt think the Strat was all that bad and from what I have heard in last year or two the rooms have been remodeled.

We got comped at the strat last trip. Ask for an upgrade. We did and got an upgraded room with a jacuzzi tub. I just prefer ballys because of location. And strat does charge a resort fee.

If you see the Frankie Moreno show there give us a review. I saw him every week at the Palms and loved the show, but I haven't seen his new one yet.

Just to confirm, I'm not trying to impress the girlfriend as much right now, as she knows this is a budget trip. She told me "I'll stay anywhere with you", which is nice. I just want to do a budget trip, but at the same time, stay on the strip somewhere. I don't care about buses, taxis and shuttles. I have my own ride and valet everywhere.

As for the other posters, the LVH is actually expensive the days we are there, as well as the Trop. Cesars is sold out. I have only check LVA for rooms, no other sites. Because I thought LVA has the best deals.

I have already impressed my girl many times locally and in Vegas. Been to some of the best dining establishments etc. HHmmmmmm, decisions, decisions.

the thing is, the strat may say it is on the strip, but it really isn't. Try the Tropicana's website.
