So My Former Host Is Going To the Trop!

Got an PM from Lolly telling me my former Silverton host, Rick, will now be hosting at the Tropicana once he gets approved which should be in about a week.

I've been chomping at the bit to go there since the new ownership took over and started redecorating the place and offering that $200 in free play....if that's what you want to call it...and see all the new things that have taken place.

I've always liked that place, and they have a great pool which I've been in twice in all my trips there. But I have a soft spot in my heart for this place, as it was the first place where I ever had a players card, and the first place that ever offered me comped rooms. It's also the place that I've ever made a BIG score in BJ, taking a $125 buy in to $5000. I also did very well at their sportsbook, and was the first place I ever picked up a copy of "Gaming Today"! I've been reading that "rag" ever since to this day....and that had to be 34 years ago. Boy how time flies.

So my next trip in August, to sign up for my Hilton...or should I say LVH Contest....I just might stay at the Trop instead of the Silverton. Sure, I'll really miss the Silverton, so I guess I just might split up my trip and visit BOTH! I'll let you know. If I can get the same comps and free play, why shouldn't I play at the Trop. Besides, with some new management coming into the Silverton, and them "hawking" my comps, why not try somewhere else?

Rick told me that with the redecorations, the Trop looks like a mini Bellagio. But I'll have to judge that for myself. I'll let you know, unless someone else has been there and knows what the place looks like. Let us know!
The renos have indeed made the Trop a much more attractive property than it had been for the past several years. However, a "mini Bellagio" is a pretty big stretch! I'd say it's now a very nice mid-priced property, but not quite the Bellagio or similar properties. The casino area is light and bright instead of dark and dingy like it used to be. It's quite a nice atmosphere to play in now. The rooms I've seen have a nice sort of "Miami South Beach" looking decor - lots of white/tan/coral colour combos, white wide slat blinds on windows, etc. They are also constantly holding sales discounting their room prices for anyone signing up for their email, making them a pretty reasonable choice pricewise if you want to stay on the strip.
I love the Trop in every way imaginable. We've stayed there 5 times since the renovations and the property looks great, the pool area is supurb, Bacio is a great Italian restaurant with very tasty food, the customer service is better than at most placed at the Strip and the rooms are spacious, clean, fresh and beatifully redone. We get great comps for being loyal customers. In other words, give the Trop a try, you'll be positively surprised. Give them a little play and I'm sure you'll some good offers.

Good luck if you switch properties.

(renovations, not redecorations)

I'm anxious to see it but my big concern is, do they have what I like to play. It's been about 23-24 years since I've stayed there. I was booked into a garden room and when I opened the window to see my view, there was a wall, literally, a tall blockwall. !!!

Lolly
I'm not necessarily switching places, just like to see what the Trop is like when I give them some action. Silverton still has a special place in my heart.
I play at a couple places. I do have my fav's, Silverton- by far has been the best to me. Rick was my host but, it was upper management who approved everything.

However, I challenge anybody who can party as hard as Rick! Aliante, M & South Point I also like. I will never find another casino who treated me as well as Silverton and Rick is not replaceable to me and that is where I'm at.
