Sorta funny?

I came across this and thought it pretty interesting, I think it's supposed to be funny.

I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.. Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:

1. Teaching Math In 1950s (when I was in school)

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit ?

2. Teaching Math In 1960s

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

3. Teaching Math In 1970s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit ?

4. Teaching Math In 1980s

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Math In 1990s

A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok).

6. Teaching Math In 2010

Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80. Cuanto dinero ha hecho?

ANSWER: His profit was $375,000 because his logging business is just a front for his marijuana farm.

DON'T LAUGH WE ARE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK!!
You're right. It ain't that funny. But oh so true !
John: Sad isn't it - I have come across cash register young person also

that doesn't know how to give proper change when you want to even

it up and just get bills etc back.

Try telling a young kid it's a quarter to four when their digital clock reads 3:45.

On the other hand, next time one of you gets a new smartphone, you're probably going to ask one of those kids for help.
Good point.

My brother went to a Kentucky fried chicken place a few years ago. On the sign it said : 3 piece chicken dinner $3.99 and on the sign next to it, it said "3 piece chicken dinner $4.99" So My brother asked, "what is the difference between the $3.99 chicken dinner and the $4.99 chicken dinner?" And the girl answered, "the $4.99 chicken dinner costs more."

He actually looked around for a camera, as he thought he might be on candid camera.
My wife bought an apple pie at our local grocery store. On the pie it said 2 for $7.00. The cashier could not figure out what $7.00 divided by 2 was. My wife told her but they had to consult another cashier to be sure my wife wasn't pulling some mathematical trickery.
I was had a convenience store yesterday afternoon and bought a couple of $10 phone calling cards and four cans of Skoal at $3.75 each. The girl rang up the items and told me matter of factly the total was $102.75!! I calmly replied that had to be incorrect. She glanced at the register and said, "Well, that's what the cash register says". Me: "Think about it, 2 phone cards at $10 apiece and 4 cans of Skoal at $3.75 each which would be $15; so the total should be $35 plus tax". "Now I know there is a hefty tax on tobacco products, but I know it can't over $70 in tax!!" She looked blankly at me and then at the register again and turned and called for the manager. It took about 10 minutes to straighten things out. I walked out the store with a headache, muttering to myself about our educational system.

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times.......

If the cashier doesn't dip tobacco, I'd still have to say she's the smarter one.
